ABOUT Dr. Katie Woodley – The Natural Pet Doctor
=====
Dr. Katie is a small animal integrative veterinarian who developed a passion for natural medicine while I was living in New Zealand. Her vet career was lucky enough to begin in the beautiful country of New Zealand. She was able to see how living off the land by growing our own vegetables and raising our own animals was the way to live the healthiest versions of ourselves. Her pets were lucky to have lots of open space to run around in and were always at the beach or the river.
When they moved back to the States five years ago, her husband, unfortunately, developed an autoimmune disease. As they researched natural medicine options for him to avoid the horrible side effects of the treatment options his doctors were providing him, Dr. Katie realized that she was doing a disservice to her animal patients by not offering these holistic options to them. She began down the integrative medicine route and has never been happier. Through nutrition, acupuncture, herbal medicine, essential oils, and supplements, every animal can achieve optimal health or feel their best even when they have a chronic illness or disease like cancer. She currently has a certification in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine and is continuously learning about the other natural modalities and growing her knowledge base every day!
She started this business to provide pet parents with more resources for natural medicine advice and care because we need to increase awareness of how amazing natural medicine truly is! Dr. Katie’s mission is to ensure that all pet parents have access to herbal medicine, supplementation, and nutritional advice throughout their pet’s lifetime. One of her greatest joys is the opportunity to collaborate with both pet parents and other veterinary professionals to ensure access to all available integrative options for pet health care.

Thanks Dr. K!!! Where does Spirulina fall in that list? I ask because I have multiple bottles in the fridge.
My golden Lilly is 11 and been on a raw diet all her life. The foods raw heart, liver and kidney, plus pork, beef, chicken, spinach, broccoli, berries all contain natural Cq10… is this enough Cq10 for her?
She’s been getting green lipped mussel powder since she was 5 off and on and same with Spirulina.
She also gets turmeric golden paste, bone broth, fish broth, mushroom broth, raw eggs, pumpkin, moringa, herbs, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds and hemp seed oil, chia seeds, krill oil. (Some of these are rotated)
If I feed all these, is this enough? (I follow the 80/10/5/5 ratio, then 15-20% veg and supplements on top of that)
lipped mussels…is there one for himsn grade but also good for dogs?
Human grade can be given in less pills for more weight…my dog is about 185lbs…3 yrs old
Thank you Dr. Katie! This is the first I have heard of these supplements being supportive for senior dogs. As a mom of two furbaby labs, 12 and 13, my goal has always been to give them the best and healthiest lifestyle possible. Will start these supplements ASAP. Are you willing to recommend any certain brands? I appreciate you and look forward to your next post!
Great information how ever you shouldn’t leave people guessing where to get these supplements and their dosages as well.
Remember you are giving information to pet lovers who obviously don’t have veterinarian or nutritionist degrees.
Are fresh mussels beneficial?
Very helpful. Thank you!
What is the doasge for phytoplankton?
For how long should i continue giving my dog a joint supplement? One two three months???? Shouldnt there be a break? Just like humans
Dr Katie-
You are a great resource for my senior dog questions. I have a 12 year old maltese named Ivory and I need to start giving her supplements. I took notes from your video and I brought that info to my vet who then directed me towards this brand called Balanced Breed. They make all-natural vitamins with no extra fillers. Between the combination of your helpful tips and my vets recommendation, my dog has never been more energized. She has had some muscle inflammation in the past (about once every few weeks) and so far hasn’t had anything in almost a year. THANK YOU AGAIN!
I am not giving up my email just to be able to view products I don’t even know if I will purchase! What a ridiculous policy!
You know I’m so glad that I have found you.
I’m learning a lot on how to take good care of my precious 9 year old doggie.
Unfortunately, I feel frustrated as well cause you do provide us with all these wonderful information but you have forgotten to provide the information of where to buy these supplements safely.
As pet owners, we love our pets but we don’t have the knowledge to know the specific doses and where to buy these supplements from a reputable source.
Please keep that in mind when you are providing all these wonderful information to us.
Great information. Where or how do you get Phytoplanktons?
So there are so many diff typed of green lipped mussels.the one that is available to me is perna viridis.can I give it to my cat?is it mercury safe?
What is the doasge for phytoplankton?
Dr. Katie this is just what I needed. Doctors seem to be giving up on my 12.5 year old polyneuropathy Saint Bernard. He is still full of joy and gets around pretty decent. I am always looking for more ways to help him. We are already on Cq10 and Greenlipped but I’m gonna add the Phytoplankton. Today I have been watching all your videos and I love how easy it is to follow not tons of those big scientific words that some vets use, you are for the regular pet parents who want to help their pups. I am thankful I found you, and will continue to share what I learn from you.
How can I give my dog coq10 in pill ?
If I give my dog the green lipped muscle powder i can stop giving her fish oil? Its just a replacement? Or should i continue to give her both?
