This what I feed my small and medium sized dogs on a daily basis: broccoli, fresh sliced carrots, a few green beans that are lightly steamed then minced followed with lightly cooked ground beef and turkey. the steamed vegetables are mixed together with the lightly cooked meat. Then I add 1 1/2 tsp (medium sized dog) of flax meal, 1/2 tsp chia seeds mixed in with vegetables and meats, and for my smaller dog, smaller amounts of chia seeds and flax meal, and because she is currently at 10 yrs old I also give her 1/8 tsp of turmeric on a daily basis that is mixed in with her vegetable/meat mixed food. One time a week I also give them raw beef liver and at times salmon or no salt added
(in water) sardines. 2x/week I give my dogs a pro and prebiotic type of food; Stoneyfield Probiotic PLAIN yogurt and 1- 1 1/2 tsp of pure pumpkin puree. What else should I be adding to my dog’s diet? I have seen the raw food diet for dogs, but this I am unsure of; I need help to balance my dogs’ current meals so I can be reassured that they are both getting the proper nutrition their bodies absolutely need on a daily basis. I feed my dogs routinely; anywhere from 5:00am-6:30am in the morning and anywhere from as early as 3:00pm – 6:30pm for their second evening meal. Their second meal consists of lightly cooked ground Turkey then lightly steamed and minced cauliflower, peas, and some sort of green colored vegetable.

I have a female border collie. that gets UTI flair ups (i give her supplements for this daily) I have been feeding them Health Extension Lamb & RIce. My question for you is I have read about Peas being an aggravator for UTI’s but I see this ingredient in almost all dry dog good and canned. does this mean only raq peas? should I not add into fresh food home cooked? I do all cooked and healthy scraps to their food. also, should I stay away from white starches?

We need more details about ways to prepare broccoli to preserve the sulphoraphane. There are ways to prepare it so that sulphoraphane is preserved. This detail is missing.

  20. @shellbellmusic on August 28, 2025 at 5:40 pm

They are overly vaccinated, either fed grains or carbs. No wonder they are all inflamed. I just got a new puppy and I’m highly considering making my own food mostly with a little high quality kibble but I’m finding it hard to find ones that don’t either have wheat or maize or sweet potato or peas. When on Gods green earth would a dog ever choose that in the wild. They wouldn’t.

  21. @janicemorgan5681 on August 28, 2025 at 5:42 pm

What about avocado, can it be a substitute for oil and can I give corn for a carb instead of a grain like rice?

  22. @holyspiritinspirations on August 28, 2025 at 5:44 pm

Great video and certainly one that eases our minds and hearts. I understood that cooked onion is ok to give dogs. Is that incorrect?

Please keep doing what you do!❀ Just like with human diets there’s so much different & at times conflicting info online as to what is good and what isn’t. I’ve spent so much time researching! I know people can throw a lot of hate towards these types of videos for those reasons but you sir know what you’re talking about!πŸ™πŸ»β€οΈ

  29. @olesyakonovalova592 on August 28, 2025 at 5:53 pm

Have you read any studies on high oxalates for dogs? Sally K. Norton is an expert on oxalates in human diet. Would like to hear your opinion on that.

  30. @gregtomilson3846 on August 28, 2025 at 5:55 pm

Nope. Dogs are carnivores. They need meat, eggs, and fish. Not vegetables. Not fruit. No herbs. No plants for medicine, including turmeric. It’s a waste of money. No scientific data supports it’s usefulness. No pharmaceuticals. Meat, eggs, and fish will double your dog’s health span and increase his lifespan. Low sugar berries are ok once in a while if you must, but not necessary. Organ meats and bone broth are excellent. Absolutely no kibble or commercial dog food of any kind. Buy meat, eggs, and fish. It’s cheaper than visits to the vet.

  31. @mariacamilasierrazuluaga6829 on August 28, 2025 at 5:55 pm

Hey everyone just double checking, this whole list also applies to cats? I do know broccoli and Kefir was mentioned for both but thought I would double check just in case! Thank you

  34. @rebeccafay9734 on August 28, 2025 at 5:58 pm

Tree of doom?Your kidding, right? Most dogs and cats hate broccoli! Okay, I sometimes get away with adding it if it’s well cooked and chopped and mixed in. Everything else sounds great! I don’t agree with adding much in the way of fruits and veggies to a cat’s diet, however since they are obligate carnivores, unlike domestic dogs. I think they have different needs. Great watch though, it’s good to see a knowledgeable professional advocating for our pets, rather than just trying to sell boutique food.❀ I’m a wildlife biologist and rehabilitator and I hate seeing some of these videos!

  35. @Onnismd on August 28, 2025 at 6:00 pm

When I check most bone broth has apple cider vinegar. Is this good or safe for dogs?

  36. @virusmyth4930 on August 28, 2025 at 6:00 pm

Honestly, I stopped watching at "broccoli".
Would you please stop giving bad advice to people about their pets?
No fruits, vegetables, roots, or grains/nuts/seeds SHOULD BE EVER FED TO CARNIVOROUS ANIMALS. EVER!
How hard is that? I mean, what type of doctor are you who doesnt even have a grasp on the basics of nutrition, seriously?
Yeah, I’ve just checked your website and it now makes sense for a greedy person to recommend garbage food for pets, as shoving
vegetable matter into the products you sell help increase the bulk of the product and hence make them more profitable.
Anyone with half a brain can see what you’re doing. Shame on you to recommend and sell products that harm our pets in the long run.

Thank you for you’r great info, i have a question. If omega3 in plant oil such as avocado oil can’t absorb, which vegan source is okaye for vegan pets?

  40. @DeniseBonilla-c3s on August 28, 2025 at 6:08 pm

I enjoy all the information. However, I am concerned about one of the top ten human foods safe for our furbabies, the bone broth. I bought bone broth for my furbaby. Read the ingredients and it had onions as one of the ingredients So I did not give it to my furbaby.
    Can you please explain that?

  41. @simbabla on August 28, 2025 at 6:09 pm

This channel is really informative. I love the content here. I have a request Dr Francis. Can you please make some content on home made pet recipes that can be made over the weekend that should last through the week?

  42. @treasuretrovel3816 on August 28, 2025 at 6:09 pm

The plant omega 3s are short chain and carnivores lack the enzymes necessary to convert short chain into long chain, essential fatty acids. Your excessive arm motion are distracting and make your video and you look unprofessional, FYI.

    Is brown rice healthy

  44. @whaadup on August 28, 2025 at 6:12 pm

I’ve been feeding my dog. A chicken squash, zucchini, carrots, green beans and sardines as well as putting turmeric I just wanted to know if that is enough or if I can add the white rice. She’s a 78 pound, pitbull. And the meat is cooked
I do once a week. Give her some calf liver
I also give her milk thistle supplement
Is there anything else I need to add or take away from her diet
I usually buy packs of chicken legs and cook them Down and then I remove all the bone little small bone pieces and the bone and go from there as far as the serving
    I mix it all together
Is there something I need to add or take away from her diet
    She’s currently eleven years old

  45. @candacegray4726 on August 28, 2025 at 6:12 pm
