@cindywills5003 I totally agree with the excruciating pain of pancreatitis comment you made. I had acute pancreatitis for about 9 months which my doctor kept telling me was indigestion. I ended up being rushed into hospital and had a 70% pancreatic necrosectomy performed.

  25. @kimtullar on March 14, 2025 at 1:34 am

I am so thankful for Dr. Berg, but man it really stirs up my emotions when I learn that either my doctors over 30 years were ignorant or simply complicit with big Pharma. I have had numerous doctors try to pressure me into taking acid blockers without ever considering that rather than having too much stomach acid, I just might have too little or maybe not the right PH levels. They knew I was struggling with chronic constipation. This has been going on for nearly 30 years! One doctor told me I had a lazy colon, with no thoughts on how to change it. One doctor recommended a colonoscopy and found nothing significant. Thatโ€™s when I followed up with an Herbalife representative and went all in on their supplement line. When I stopped his prescription regimen that doctor told me he wouldnโ€™t treat me any longer.

I lost 75lbs in 7 months reducing carb intake, increasing protein to 50-60% of my calories. I couldnโ€™t digest raw vegetables so I ate little to no vegetables. Again my doctors didnโ€™t think that my lack of ability to digest raw vegetables was worth looking in to. Once the weight loss stopped, so did my diet. I lost interest in it and I gained nearly everything back within a 2 years.

I went to a GI specialist who told me that I had Chronic Idiopathic Constipation, meaning constipation with โ€˜NO CAUSEโ€™. I started having gallbladder issues right after my first child was born in 1993 at age 18 and finally my gallbladder was no longer functioning 16 years later and it was removed. During the operation some gallstones were left behind and caused my bile duct to get clogged within 1 week of the surgery. I called the doctors office that did the surgery and was told if it was serious I should just go to the ER. It was serious, my intestines quit moving, I ended up having a 2nd surgery to put a stent in my bile duct, which lead to a 3rd surgery to remove the stent, which had fallen out. I struggled with sludge for months afterwards. I was told that my gallbladder was a nonessential organ.

Fast forward 31 years after my first symptoms of gallbladder issues, I am more than 50 pounds overweight based on BMI calculation. Ironically I have been more overweight but they put me on Ozempic for Diabetes in 2020 and I lost 30 lbs. I have struggled with about 10-12 lbs of weight that goes up and comes back down, but I never really lose anything more. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, 8 years ago. In addition to that I have borderline high cholesterol, a heart murmur, my kidneys have been showing signs of struggling in recent months, (frothy urine) my doctors convinced me not to eat eggs for months. I have an enlarged liver (CT scan in 2017, the doctor didnโ€™t think it was worthy of a conversation) and I struggle with an inflamed liver worried my blood work will show I have a fatty liver again (January 2020, by May 2020 blood test show normal numbers and my doctor started me on Ozempic).

My doctors have routinely pressured me into taking a Statin since 2018. I had a bad reaction to every Statin they tried. I was diagnosed with PCOS, Chronic Idiopathic Non-Allergic Rhinitis, (I also have night time vision issues which is blamed on my Diabetes, no one thought to check my vitamin A levels). My constipation and acid reflux issues actually got a little better 7 years ago when I had the Mirena IUD placed because I had irregular menstrual cycles and they were concerned with thickness of my uterine lining, advising me I was at risk for endometriosis. Mirena, doesnโ€™t have any synthetic estrogen in it. It tricks the body into producing less estrogen.

Itโ€™s been an endless cycle of thinking my doctors held all the information. I know differently now. I am now supplementing with vitamins and minerals since becoming more educated through Dr. Bergโ€™s content. I have stopped eating ultra processed carbs, in fact I have cut out all processed foods in the last 5 weeks. I make my meals from scratch whenever possible, then I can control what goes into my body. I can finally consider that I will be healthy someday. It is my goal to be off all prescription drugs by the end of 2025. I really feel like I am finally on the right track!!

    THANK YOU DR. BERG!!

Does anyone remember when Dr Mercola was the go to guy for nutrition advice? Anyway on his website about 20 years ago he explained that heartburn was a case of not having strong enough stomach acid and the industries response of using Roll-Aids and Tums or that famous prosciption ( I forget its name) for it was the opposite of what you should be doing. Then I hear this Dr say the same thing 20 years later. Dr Mercola was so spot on on so many things.
