What would be a good mix for homemade mint bones. My dog loves the traders joes ones but I don’t think they are healthy. Any have a recipe?

  5. @Gkrissy on July 2, 2025 at 2:24 pm

I always give my dogs chicken hearts, because it’s cheap and I figured it was healthy. I also give salmon and beef liver but it’s tough to feed her berries so I have to hide it behind her chicken heart. I try to do eggs and sardines but she is picky with it.

I give my dog homemade food and I sprinkle the canine formula advance on top. He does not like the taste of it. It’s the chicken one. If he won’t eat the food with the formula, how can I get him to take the formula? I have used the regular formula and the advanced one. His main meats are chicken and turkey. He is a 7 year old multipoo. Please answer soon because he needs to take the formula. Thank you

Wondering if you can also give all this good stuff to a 11 week old puppy, or should wait until they are a bit older. Hum.

  11. @francescaspetcare on July 2, 2025 at 2:29 pm

  13. @NurseKylie89 on July 2, 2025 at 2:30 pm

Doctor what would you recommend to be in a homemade diet for a dog that is in early kidney disease but also has a grain allergy? I would like to take a natural approach instead of switching my dog to a kidney kibble. And if you have any recommendations for supplements that she might need.

  14. @Danielle-nz9tn on July 2, 2025 at 2:30 pm

Cooking the broccoli (i.e. steaming it on stovetop or roasting it in oven) solves the issue of difficulty digesting and rejection (just chop it up in small pieces and add it to their food; it will be so mixed in they won’t be able to pick it out or eat around it—works best to put it in wet food).

  15. @michee472 on July 2, 2025 at 2:32 pm

I’m concerned on how Tula is panting so much
Is it hot where you’re at and no air conditioner? Have you thought of using a cooling vest for her?

  16. @juliekoester7776 on July 2, 2025 at 2:38 pm

Thank you so, so much Dr. Jones!
Would you please make a video on what to feed a very young puppy?
I lost my sweet Molly this past December, 2024. I miss her desperately, but I’m so lonely that I’m getting a puppy in four weeks and I do NOT want to feed her kibble. I know that a puppy’s nutritional needs are different from a grown dog, but I’m totally lost on what to feed her. I’m scared to death that I’m going to hurt her by not giving her key nutrients. Could you please help me?
Thank you for all of wonderful information you share with us. Knowledge is power! ♥️

  17. @happynessadict on July 2, 2025 at 2:39 pm

to me there is only food , and i mean the way is grown or was born
kibble is not food …its a byproduct of food waste
    my dog eats food

  18. @melissakv1771 on July 2, 2025 at 2:39 pm

My girl that I thought would eat anything doesn’t like apples, I don’t think she’ll eat raw broccoli, she’s picky about things actually… She won’t eat quite a few things.

  22. @allisonbrown8679 on July 2, 2025 at 2:42 pm

Could you do a video on healthy food for puppies please 🙏

  23. @MPM6785ChitChat on July 2, 2025 at 2:43 pm

Pumpkin ok but not seeds because they can cause blockages.
Sardines ok bones are tiny and soft but wouldn’t risk salmon due to bones.
Sweet potatoes in moderation due to oxalates.
Broccoli, cauliflower ok unless a dog show signs of Thyroid problems.
Peel fruits and veg because skins are hard to digest plus contain pesticides

  24. @davidbuchanan9273 on July 2, 2025 at 2:43 pm

Fish has heavy metals n mercury in it plus a lot of plastics

  25. @100xyz on July 2, 2025 at 2:44 pm

Chicken hearts are looking too fatty to me at least in the grocery store. I rather buy a beef heart from the raw butcher for dogs.its much more efficient and no fat at all. Where I live its called Meat Packers canada.they sell raw buffalo, kangoroo, beef chicken any which way you like it. Bones, no bones, veggies, no veggies all ground up in 1 lb tubes

The man who had the oldest cats on record was asked his secret. He said he gave his cats steamed broccoli and scrambled eggs mixed into their soft food. One of his cats lived to 32 and I believe the other cat lived a year or two older than that.

I home cooked for my Australian shepherd. I cook all my veg in an insta pot. Celery, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, bell peppers. I add grounded egg shells, vitamins, golden paste (turmeric) and an egg. Then it is the protein, chicken or beef cooked in coconut oil. Also, the liver, gizzards, kidney and hearts and sardine. I also add 2 tablespoon of bone broth. She gets ice cream made with fruits and yogurt. She also gets a frozen raw chicken feet every other day. The plan is to move to raw food eventually. I had a GSD that died of cancer at 7. I believe it is the food. Since then, I stay away from commercial food. I do homemade treats too.
