Wow, that completely overturned my perception of wet dog food. I used to think Purina, Pedigree, and Hill’s Science are among the best brands !!!

I would like to hear your opinion about feeding dogs a food that contains "healthy" grains versus a food that is grain-free. Grains are needed for a healthy heart??? Of course the grains need to be the right type of grains.

Corn is so genetically modified now that our bodies don’t even know how to digest it properly. My naturopath says so many people complaining they’ve become allergic to corn…It’s because it is not corn anymore.. I love it on the cob but will only allow myself to have it twice in the summer. I can’t begin to imagine feeding it to anything let alone my pet on any regular basis.

Where does dog log rank among kibble, wet, air dried, freeze dried, and raw? And can u do a dog log tier list? 🙏

  17. @sandicianciulli3463 on April 10, 2025 at 4:22 am

Thank you so much! I have been making my own dog food for my beautiful pedigree German Shepherd, Akelah. This is our first venture with a pedigree; all our other dogs were wonderful mutts who didn’t seem to have the same health issues she does. She is nearing 9 years old and is developing serious joint issues. I’m finding it difficult to find a good balanced Omega 3-6 recipe, which I assume would be mostly seafood and I’m no expert in that department. I did find a really good Tailwagger’s but there are so many choices, it’s hard to know what’s what. The information you give us is so important and now I know what I’m looking for on the labels.

Would love to see a similar video ranking the commercially available non-kibble non-canned foods. Like honest kitchen, farmers dog, and others that are still generally convenient but a lot better for our pups

  28. @faureindacut139 on April 10, 2025 at 4:43 am

    You forgot blue wilderness

  29. @childoflight5683 on April 10, 2025 at 4:44 am

Wow! Great info. Thank you so much for your honesty with this stuff. I really think it’s important to bring awareness about these giant companies that put absolute garbage in their products and don’t give a shit about the health of your pet. We need to stop giving them our money! The people who own and control these big companies are not good individuals. I can guarantee that most are all deep state owned. Aka… Wannabe world dominating loseers.

  30. @andreawolfmother8311 on April 10, 2025 at 4:44 am

I just love your reviews! Very informative and helpful. I have been struggling to do the same thing on my own without your knowledge. Could you please review Open Farm, Nulo and Dr. Tim’s Kinesis wet and dry dog foods. These are a few I have settled on over the years but find their prices keep going up. If I am going to continue to feed these at very high costs I wanted to make sure they were good choices. Thank you for your consideration and all you do for our animals as well as us the pet parents!

  36. @MariaEspinoza-q8f on April 10, 2025 at 4:52 am

Can you tell me if American Journey limited ingredients is a good choice for wet food? My dogs love it but I want to be sure that it is beneficial for their health.

  37. @susanc.8009 on April 10, 2025 at 4:53 am

Watched a vet with a phd in animal nutrition. She ranks Purina, Hills and Royal has the best. What do you know that she doesn’t know?

  38. @jasonmarinomusic on April 10, 2025 at 4:54 am

Has anyone tried WAG wet canned dog food on Amazon? Label looks great, and much less expensive

  39. @TXResourceMom on April 10, 2025 at 4:55 am

Would you still recommend Origin even though they’re owned by a big major company now?

  40. @MoniqueChorvat on April 10, 2025 at 4:55 am

Why is nobody nor this so-called nutritionist talking about heart disease in dogs and the growing rate? And the grain-free food that is possibly the cause? How about the peas and legumes in MOST store bought dog foods today causing heart disease? Speaking about dog food requires all aspects of the food and what is beneficial and NOT beneficial to dogs.

  41. @jemhidiahssj4114 on April 10, 2025 at 4:57 am

My late 15 year old apbt rescue former breeder girl loved the Rachel ray nutrish mixed with pro plan. Was the only combo that she was good on. Didn’t realize this vid was so old

What wet dog food is good for dogs with anal gland problems?

  47. @yasminarenae on April 10, 2025 at 5:03 am

Are you familiar with Nulo and Organix dog food?

  48. @GardeningGroomer on April 10, 2025 at 5:03 am

There is an awful lot of focus on pretty ingredient panels. Remember marketing is there to help sell pet food with pretty packages and ingredient lists that read like a restaurant! Ok sure, the ingredients look great to be sure! They were engineered that way! How do you tell the quality of the protein sources used then? How can we know? Poor quality protein sources will have high mineral contents. Specifically problematic for dogs is calcium and phosphorus, the excess of which, in the long run as the dog ages, has consequences for organ health, particularly kidneys. If you look at foods like Hills and Purina (I know, I know, the bad guys), in comparison to Origen and the like, you will find that Hills/Purina foods are far less in mineral content! High mineral content means the meats they bought were high in bone content, not muscle meat! Who is using quality ingredients then? No, I don’t work for any pet food company. I’m just a pet owner looking out for my dogs. after losing 3 of my dogs to DCM because of grain free foods, I went on a journey to learn just exactly how to tell what is quality. You can refer to Small Animal Clinical Nutrition for more!
Lastly, I get the warm, fuzzy feeling you get from “small family owned” companies. But there is a lot to be said about the ongoing research from the “big three” pet food companies. They do feeding trials vs. the well-marketed boutique foods who “formulate” their foods to meet aafco standards and then use your dogs as the guinea pigs.
Recalls…. Well mistakes happen (how about green onions or romaine lettuce?). I’m glad they recall the foods as needed, that means there is ongoing quality testing in progress.
Anyway, a pet owner has every right to choose the food they want to feed, that’s a given, just don’t get caught up in teh pretty packaging and lovely ingredients listing- they’re marketed that way!

Natural Flavor is made of Beaver anal glands. They include it in human food also. So for that reason it goes in Kirkland is Yucky
