You’re really saving more than $0.53 per meal for each cat compared to commercial raw. Look at the chicken quality you bought, free range, organic. The chicken is superior because they get sunlight, eat bugs and grass, no antibiotics. There is no way the commercial raw is using that type of meat on their products. On top of that, the supplements and vegetables you add increases the homemade raw foods’ quality. Plus you got 2 carcass leftover to make broth that is going to be more yummy than store bought ones.

Did I miss it? No TAURINE….absolutely essential for cats so they won’t go blind. Also did you grind the bones? If not you need to supplement by adding a calcium source such as crushed eggshells. Cats also need to have a variety of protein sources so feeding chicken every day for 9 days in a row is not healthy. They need to have about 10% organ meats and different sources of protein (pork, chicken, turkey, beef, and various other options such as rabbit, various game, etc)

I don’t know how you do it all but I’m sure the cats really appreciate it

  6. @BonnieJeanTlq on October 13, 2025 at 7:36 pm

If you have an Aldi Food store near you they have organic chickens for about half that price. Just a thought.πŸ™πŸ»

I admire how thorough you are, LF.

I know you have been doing this for only short time. And you are still honing your skills. And getting things where you would like them to be. Having said that do you think that the buying the whole chickens and there price savings will compare to pre cut chicken and the time you spend doing the work yourself? I hope I said that right. Because time is money. Of course once you get going on this over and over you may become very fast and it will not make a difference. Ok that is what was sitting up there in my brain. And I was just curious. Have a good day.

Was so hoping you would make this video when you said you were used whole chickens to make the homemade raw food for the cats! Enjoy seeing the time and monetary cost difference with the premade raw food. Like that you can add any supplements and vegetables/fruits. πŸ˜ŠπŸ’™πŸ’™

  12. @lxq5 on October 13, 2025 at 7:44 pm

Lol i never heard anybody talk about or calculate time like that.

  13. @birdyboy7971 on October 13, 2025 at 7:45 pm

What kind of grinder are you using? Would love to know what you think of it. How do you freeze dry blueberries? Lots of good stuff in there.

  14. @chloelucky3883 on October 13, 2025 at 7:45 pm

Wow, those chickens πŸ“ from Trader Joe’s looked really large, sort of like an oven roaster. Yummy!!! I never saw those in the Trader Joe’s near me. Great savings doing this yourself.

  15. @teleioswonder on October 13, 2025 at 7:46 pm

If you include the neck (thyroid gland) of the chicken, I believe you don’t need to include the kelp for iodine. I’m wary of using kelp for my raw cat food as the iodine levels vary a ton, are so hard to gauge.

  16. @TabbyTimeOut on October 13, 2025 at 7:51 pm

I misread this as making chicken food with whole cats.

  17. @semperfi818 on October 13, 2025 at 7:52 pm

I also hope those very good-looking whole chickens contained giblets; if not, I’ve seen packaged chicken giblets (as with livers), occasionally with hearts as well, for sale in most supermarket meat departments. Between the raw food and the chicken broth you plan to prepare, dear Lady, the kittehs are going to eat superbly well, and doubtless thank you for your efforts and expense in their behalf. (Your skill and resourcefulness still amaze me, dear Lady: like Boo, I wonder if there is anything you cannot do, or learn to do capably in short order. πŸ˜ŠπŸ±πŸ‘)

Lol your gloves and apron is your hazmat suit for perparing the raw food. Just had a funny thought in my head how LF is wearing all that. 😁😁 My hazmat suit for school, scrubs, lab coat, gloves, mask, and eye protection. Now I’m prepared to draw blood or anything else an MA would do.

And so began the story of America’s number one selling raw cat food, LF Scoops featuring Boo’s Feral Formula…

Boo looked very cute lounging on his day bed.

  21. @mariasundy on October 13, 2025 at 8:00 pm

Would Pat please donate me a grinder as well?

  22. @michaelc7723 on October 13, 2025 at 8:00 pm

Like your videos about food. Another benefit you get from making food is, of course, you decide and you know exactly what you are feeding your former ferals and Hydrox.

    Thanks for the info
I’m interested in doing this myself. Would you please list all the ingredients and portions. Thanks so much. Love that Boo ❀️❀️❀️

It looks like you are really getting organized concerning how to make home-made cat food for five plus cats. Has the thought occurred to you about selling your own brand of home-made organic cat food? I do find your cooking experiments, and getting the cost and time savings down, very informative. And I know the cats love and benefit from it too. You even put supplements and herbs inπŸ’πŸ’πŸ’

I bet the cats enjoy their chicken like I enjoy Pop Eyes chicken lol.

Boo Velvet lounging on his daybed approves of his food. Splashy the sun bather looks very comfy.
