Is Matt’s Off Road Recovery Rope Best? Let’s Settle This!

Matt’s Off Road Recovery Kinetic Recovery Rope (Yankum Ropes), Bubba Rope, Smittybilt, Rhino USA, FieryRed, Inclake and Sgt Knots. Ropes tested for elasticity under load. Ropes then experienced 25 pulls to test durability. Following the 25 pulls, the ropes were tested again for loss of elasticity and “permanent rope stretch”. A big thank you to Cousin Eddie for helping me test the ropes and for allowing the Farmabago to be used for review. Please let me know if you’d like to see Cousin Eddie in more videos!

I bought all of the recovery ropes and supplies used to test the ropes to ensure an unbiased review. So, thank you supporting the channel.

Always excellent reviews, but not this one. The kinetic recovery ropes are not rubber bands, they are designed to be a dash pot with their internal nylon construction. And the hysteresis is not permanent, the elongation returns in hours, not minutes.

And how the test tools work. WOW

  3. @Joseph-vj2ph on September 3, 2025 at 5:41 pm

Just a pointer for anyone pulling a vehicle out. Never pull from your hitch ball. Your hitch ball is not rated as high as the frame of your vehicle and could fail. If the ball breaks it becomes a flying piece of metal that has sadly ended in death for people flying into windshiled hitting person. Please never use a ball to attach to in order to pull someone out. Only attach to vehicles frame.

I know this is a year old but it seems to me like you are abusing these ropes. I am pretty sure you aren’t supposed to stretch the yankum more than 5 times u til you let it relax.

Traction board could be a good one

This is so ironic because I watch Matts off-road recovery all the time. That led me to get a kinetic rope just in case I ever needed it to either help someone or for someone to use it on me. Always enjoy your videos. Keep them up.

$50 club… because we don’t recover for a living but its better than a chain or regular tow rope.———>>>>>>>>

What is the best ride on lawn mower lol

  23. @RobertMillerJustme on September 3, 2025 at 6:06 pm

The ropes should stretch; the real test would be how much they actually shrink back to their original length and how long it takes.

  24. @alans6767 on September 3, 2025 at 6:07 pm

your reviews are good but you should take a doggy downer before you start. Breath and just tell us in a nice calm voice what you want to say. I know I am an outcast but hard to watch

  25. @johnlucas6407 on September 3, 2025 at 6:08 pm

    HUGE PRICE VARIATION.
    VERY INFORMATIVE AS USUAL.

  26. @mikegrendel9126 on September 3, 2025 at 6:08 pm

Test chemicals and applications for pond treatment.

  27. @JacoSteenekamp on September 3, 2025 at 6:08 pm

Soo bad wana watch the review but the sped up and voice tone is very annoying

  28. @philipkneisl5871 on September 3, 2025 at 6:10 pm

Very interesting. After all that shock loading you say the ropes are still serviceable. A really useful measurement to show this would have been to measure their ultimate tensile stress. I bet it has been significantly reduced.

  29. @___HH___ on September 3, 2025 at 6:11 pm

Good reviews, always, but I always have to turn on closed captions and slow the vid down a bit in order to understand what the heck is being said.

  30. @kpdvw on September 3, 2025 at 6:11 pm

    Rope a dope….!

  31. @martyacosta2335 on September 3, 2025 at 6:12 pm

  34. @shaun8256 on September 3, 2025 at 6:14 pm

I use straps from loading docks! Blows the weave out of those one time use straps!

  35. @SteveDurst-f5d on September 3, 2025 at 6:19 pm

I watched the whole thing. Have no idea what you said.

  36. @calebmcbride1483 on September 3, 2025 at 6:21 pm

Love the facts but gahhhhh. Its like trying to understand an auctioneer… rattled through that so fast I was lost 90% of the time

  37. @airdreams1 on September 3, 2025 at 6:21 pm

Honestly I think any one of these would be great for anybody that’s going to off-road and try to recover someone. I’m not talking about a guy who’s out there doing it all day everyday. I’m just saying if you bought a $50 kinetic energy rope it’s still a hundred times better/safer than any damn chain or cable out there.

  38. @jdsilvaca on September 3, 2025 at 6:22 pm

If it’s made in the USA, then it’s good rope.

  39. @sancx on September 3, 2025 at 6:23 pm

Take note other review channels, No BS, no bias, straight to the point and a likeable host

  40. @jimzplace on September 3, 2025 at 6:23 pm

“the Rhino USA is made in China.” 😝

  42. @marcusmendoza1633 on September 3, 2025 at 6:27 pm

Ik im touch on this super late now, but I was at home depot the other day and Home Depot’s in house brand husky now sells a kinetic rope on the shelves now, would it be something you could revisit to and test ?

  43. @ParkerCNG on September 3, 2025 at 6:30 pm

Sgt Knots is no longer available

  44. @Loiczzr on September 3, 2025 at 6:31 pm

You make great v8deo but you need to slow down, you are speaking way to fast and…. sry but it’s annoying

  45. @Seoulhawk01 on September 3, 2025 at 6:31 pm

Watched a video the other day telling to NEVER use a tow hitch for doing a recovery. They are not designed for it. They showed what can happen, and wow…. Yep never do that.

  46. @Wooooptywoop on September 3, 2025 at 6:32 pm

Them using these ropes on their videos, sells the product itself. This is just some random fucking nerd, trying to capitalize off of their name and branding

  47. @jdsilvaca on September 3, 2025 at 6:33 pm

Not even watching longer than 2 minutes…. horrible video

  48. @aaronflanagan8983 on September 3, 2025 at 6:33 pm

I’m all about made in the USA, but American companies need to stop gouging customers because they are in the USA

  49. @joecrouse1328 on September 3, 2025 at 6:35 pm

I feel like I’m at an auction

  50. @bopapa_1979 on September 3, 2025 at 6:36 pm

I know they’re super-strong, but we really needed these tested to their rates breaking strength.

You seem to be measuring stretch, which is one helpful metric to be sure. But the easiest way to smell a rat (and risk) is to see if they’re as strong as is claimed.

Anyway, great video. Thanks for taking the time.
