Imitators Knocked Off Our Harness!

Imitators Knocked Off Our Harness!

It’s not the first time others have tried to copy us, and we’re certain it won’t be the last. This time oversea manufacturer’s have attempted to knock off our Icon Air Harness.

While scrolling through Amazon one day, our product specialist and face of the Ray Allen videos (i.e. this video), noticed something that looked eerily familiar. It was HIS DOG! In his very own Ray Allen Icon Air Harness – on some other Amazon Seller’s product page! Absolutely mind blowing, to say the least.

There are a lot of people that sew together nylon in the dog world, we all have our little slice of the market, and as The Jaded Dog Trainer says “there really isn’t a ton of unique ways to wrap nylon around a dog, that hasn’t already been done”. Like most manufacturers in any industry, there are competitors out there and there’s nothing bad about that. We honestly want dog owners and working dog teams of the world to find the products that work best for them and suit their needs. We love innovation and challenging the market to do better, which in turn makes us all better.

WITH THAT BEING SAID… When I see a stitch for stitch knock-off of one of our signature products, like the Icon Air Harness, made with crappy materials, with no thought, no understanding of our design elements, and can’t even be used for the purpose it was designed – it’s simply “a bag of shit”. They literally copied our design with cheaply made FAKE GT Cobra Buckles and FAKE D-Rings. The craziest part is they copied design aspects that were only there to be used specifically with Ray Allen-designed accessories! They put no thought and have no purpose for the side tabs, except for the fact that they just did it to copy our product. These people are clearly not dog people. I mean, if you are going to copy a product you should at least understand the purpose of each component and make it useful and durable for its intended use!

In lieu of this, we just want to reiterate our reason for being in the working dog space and the pride that goes into our work. We haven’t been around for 75 years by mistake. Everything that’s made here at our Colorado Springs, USA factory, is made with a purpose and made for the love of dogs. We are a dying breed (the U.S. manufacturer).

When looking for tactical dog equipment, built to meet military standards, consider supporting American companies, like us, that not only design and manufacture our products here, but also look to source materials in America to support other American companies. We take pride in our work and our products, for the love of dogs… and we are proud to be a leading manufacturer in America. We ask that you support American manufacturers, and buy American-made products.

Do you have a design and utility patent? Just curious. Nice product! Got four dogs!

Thanks for the comparison and clarification. I understand saving a buck but I don’t like to support knockoffs. I’ll be buying yours.

I’m sorry, but I feel the better OneTigris harnesses are of good quality. I don’t believe they copy you nor do I know if this is who you are referring to, but for 70.00 bucks they make a pretty decent harness. My dog also is not a service dog which is part of why I don’t need to pay 300.00 also.

I have a major problem with the ICON harness I just ordered from you . The sewing/stitching is horrific . The Velcro on the neck/chest is the cheap hook and loop used on CRYE knockoffs that just shreds away with every adjustment. And the size measurement for my k9 said medium. It’s 2” too long even with the straps completely collapsed. I’m emailing photos tonight but I can’t say there’s going to be much that would make me happy at this point. For nearly $300 I would expect this thing to look flawless and be sewn together with the golden pubic hair of angels … or at least double welt seams and/or double stitching . The string itself isn’t even close to milspec nylon sewing thread. It seems like basic Michaels thread . Nearly all of the running stitching has slack in it .
I have a working dog that deserves something that can survive what I ask of her to do . But this thing looks like it’s an Amazon special made in China.
This is coming off harsh. But with a reputation that your company Ray Allen has earned for gear made for working dogs . I cannot imagine this being allowed to leave the floor let alone leave the building.

    Sorry it’s getting bad

  8. @fike301 on October 23, 2025 at 7:40 pm

Somehow to me it looks like you gotta justify something…..if it’s all wrong it’s not a perfect replica now is it? What a whiner 😮😮😮

  9. @TheStevenWhiting on October 23, 2025 at 7:43 pm

Its what China do and what Amazon is mostly filled with. Knock offs of other people’s kit. The other thing they do is get a product that has 5 stars, change the page to be a totally different product but keep the 5 star ratings.

More needs to be done to stop buying shit from China. They exploit the developing country status to get free shipping.

  10. @DaveZigars on October 23, 2025 at 7:44 pm

It’s truly disappointing to see the number of “tactical” k9 equipment out there from companies I’ve never heard of or who obviously knockoff or produce trash and sell it for a fraction of the cost to unsuspecting customers. You get what you pay for couldn’t be more applicable and Ray Allen products stand the test of time.

chinese proverb and one they live by seriously…"If you can cheat… then cheat" … they do it better than anyone in the world.

  12. @420Carter on October 23, 2025 at 7:46 pm

Holy Shit I appreciate the video. I was just looking on the Amazon for something like this. I was about to get sucked into some shit thinking it would be ok….. Now I’m looking, knowing that they are shit. Wish I could afford your harnesses

  13. @Being_Joe on October 23, 2025 at 7:47 pm

China don’t give a fudge about intellectual property and Amazon will also rip you off and call it Amazon Basics.

  14. @alpinek9hans310 on October 23, 2025 at 7:48 pm

    I always buy Ray Allen.

  15. @benjaminleatham1587 on October 23, 2025 at 7:50 pm

Thanks for making a great product. The most screwed up part of all this knockoff Amazon stuff, is I almost bet those "companies" are owned by Bezos…. Placing an order for the real deal today.

If you’re going to cry about competition just give up

You invite people to copy because you are way overpriced.

  20. @bampythons5123 on October 23, 2025 at 7:53 pm

I mean they have over 40,000+ really good reviews, where you have… $35 vs $260… I’d rather go with better ratings and price.

  21. @thomasd9237 on October 23, 2025 at 7:57 pm

🇺🇸 I hope you sue the crap out of them 🇺🇸

  23. @ThomasUtt2172 on October 23, 2025 at 8:03 pm

Report Amazon to the FTC and sue the fuck out of Amazon

  24. @pharmascientist8885 on October 23, 2025 at 8:03 pm

Sorry about people having your pictures but you need to trademark that stuff come on guys. Don’t think about the price of the product. Think about protecting the reputation and another thought I had is this is just like the new car market. The car dealers were making a killing. It’s a feast for several years now. Here we are. One day before the end of the fiscal year for car dealers and they’re literally dying, no one can afford them. So the question is and it’s a valid one. How is your vest? Five times better and even if it is, you better protect your images and everything with copy right or trademark. I’m not a lawyer but you guys drop the ball there

  25. @whiskeytower5987 on October 23, 2025 at 8:03 pm

Never considered needing a harness, but I see one of y’alls in my future. Keep up the good work #MadeinUSA #BuyAmerican

  26. @docgb72 on October 23, 2025 at 8:04 pm

Thank you for fucking making real AMERICAN gear for my dog!

  27. @TsunamiTD on October 23, 2025 at 8:05 pm

I bought an Icon harness from Ray Allen and was super excited, but when I saw the quality I went “WtF” inside my head. I thought I got a weird lemon, so I ordered more and in different colors for fun. They all looked so cheaply and poorly made…I ended up going with a Nomad harness, but yeah. The ICONs are wtf

  28. @skenzyme81 on October 23, 2025 at 8:05 pm

Fakes are a plague on Amazon, and Amazon does very little to combat the problem! Not only do these criminals steal sales, but cheated customers will occasionally leave bad reviews on the real product or even return it to the legit manufacturer for a warranty claim!

It’s gotten to where I only buy from Amazon when it’s stocked by Amazon and available on Prime. EVERYTHING else, (like dog harnesses) I buy direct from the manufacturer.

Bill Gates once said… If there is going to be software piracy. You want it to be your software that they are pirating.

  30. @GwasTV on October 23, 2025 at 8:11 pm

Ypu have every right to say what you said! Me and my father invented an airsoft gernade holster and the same thing happened to us. We spent hours went through 3 different versions to finally perfect our product. Just to have someone steal it.

  31. @rustytygart405 on October 23, 2025 at 8:12 pm

So there’s a ton of harnesses on Amazon I’m really not sure what company you’re talking about?

  32. @thedieseloverlander on October 23, 2025 at 8:14 pm

Found it and wrote a review. Bag of shit is right!

  33. @pharmascientist8885 on October 23, 2025 at 8:15 pm

Hey I’m really sorry that happened but you know besides the Cobra buckles people just see the harness and you can’t survive when people are having a hard time making their car payments, mortgages, etc. So they jump over to Amazon and get a $28 vest that looks like yours. And sadly enough I looked at your products and I really wondered. Wow okay. If I was the law enforcement officer I would have this but as a dog sport handler is this overkill? I think this is the calculus a lot of people are doing in their mind right now. Do I get a team canine for $49 or Ray Allen for whatever you’re charging which is probably significantly more? You have to be able to demonstrate your clients why they should pay that much. And your products are very well made. But you know welcome to cheap imitations but most people just walk their dogs with them. They’re not dogs sporting these or doing IPO or what have you? And I’m a malinois and Dutch shepherd owner so I know the importance of a great product. But when they all look the same people make that mistake. And if your lead times are long people have, I want it yesterday mentality so they buy some $28 vest from Amazon. I’m guilty of that. I’ve got one right here that’s lasted 7 years. I don’t use it. But I get what you’re putting down. But maybe you ought to consider having a second tier product line that is aimed more at the average dog handler. But maybe that will cannibalize your top line vest. I just know Ray Allen is better than what’s on the market. If it’s got Cobra buckles I want it. But anything beyond that you got to prove why it’s good and that carries over to the $1,000 crates. The name of the companies escaping me right now but it’s like come on man $1,000 for a dog crate versus 179 you got to tell me why I should pay 800 more… If I would have known this was going down I would have bought one and done a YouTube video for you cuz I know your product is top gun. It’s just people have to pay the mortgage before they get top tier quality product for walking their dogs cuz most people don’t even know what a cobra buckle is

  34. @Dfgbuiiyyyybb on October 23, 2025 at 8:16 pm

I just purchased one of your collars for my dog from your website. Quality is fantastic.

  35. @IAmTheWodewose on October 23, 2025 at 8:19 pm

I just got a Dutch Shepherd to work with and have been searching for harnesses and other gear. I’m buying from you guys based on this video…and the cussing (and reputation of course!)
    👊🤘👍

  36. @MichaelRayBurnett1991 on October 23, 2025 at 8:19 pm

Kidding but yes need to know what is the best dog vest

  37. @austinmccarty3244 on October 23, 2025 at 8:20 pm

This reminds me of the jackass “superpatriots” that are ignorant enough to buy MAGA & American flag hats and apparel that is made in China. They are “bags of shit”

  38. @TheCobbledHovel on October 23, 2025 at 8:20 pm

Been looking for a harness for my Boxer K9

  39. @tyler2532 on October 23, 2025 at 8:24 pm

Why you should buy directly from manufacturers or authorized seller. If something’s price looks too good to be true, chances are, something is wrong with it.
Buy once cry once. Don’t fall for knockoffs!

  40. @r.d.9399 on October 23, 2025 at 8:24 pm

I stopped buying things off of amazon. They allow so much fake junk to be sold on their site. Many of those things are downright dangerous.

  41. @jah_soja on October 23, 2025 at 8:24 pm

What’s the harness and company? I searched a review for a PetNanny harness and then saw this video and looks identical. So is PetNanny one of the knockoff brands? Need to know so I don’t throw away $.

  42. @TheWholeDamnShow007 on October 23, 2025 at 8:25 pm

Often imitated, but never duplicated take this as a flattering jester

  43. @pizzabw on October 23, 2025 at 8:27 pm

I support your 100% American made product by American companies Has to be supported. I have one of your harnesses I’ve had for 15 years and I love it.

    MERICA!!!

  45. @RickStefani on October 23, 2025 at 8:28 pm

I have to admit I fell for one. I take my dog hiking, and we go to places that he could get in trouble, so I need something I could hoist him out from. The cheaper knockoff I bought not, knowing your store, the first hike out he wanted to take off and pulled right out of the harness. The straps are crap and so were the buckles. The buckles would come undone just by him pulling. The straps would always come loose. It is so bad that I cut it up before tossing it out so no one would use it. I would not give it away for free. Yours has been bomb proof and served us well. So worth every cent. Thanks for a great product!

  46. @abbadonwilson514 on October 23, 2025 at 8:29 pm

China? Knock something off?? Noooo.. hey in all due respect I feel your anger my friend. The worst part is? Is there even a way to sue for copyright infringement?

  47. @ajsmitten2819 on October 23, 2025 at 8:30 pm

I totally get it. Been in your shoes. My husband did end up buying the black one thinking it was the same thing. But here are my 2 cents. You’re correct the straps on the side slide thru too easily. With our 60lbs dog it’s a mess. The whole harness slides then forward almost over his head and he ends up on the ground (we got it to support him at his senior age of 14; it’s supposed to help giving him a lift up when his hind end gives out), so I keep saying this or any harness should have 2 loops attached that go around the back legs as well so that cannot happen. Do yours offer a back leg attachment? And a nicely cushioned one?

  48. @dougsandy308 on October 23, 2025 at 8:31 pm

I always support American companies and people who are passionate about whatever they make. This video alone sold me on your company and I will be ordering from you the second I know the size our puppy will need.

  49. @Ryan21500 on October 23, 2025 at 8:33 pm

Then sell the thing at a price point most Americans can afford.

  50. @GreggC1320 on October 23, 2025 at 8:35 pm

Not defending this guy, but to everyone saying the ko has better reviews, you can NOT look at the 5 star reviews. Sometimes you can’t trust the 5 star reviews.
