Thought the broccoli should be raw for dogs to prevent some reaction the broccoli goes through when cooked? And not too much of it as it can be very gaseous. Please advise.
I have a Rat Terrier, a Black Lab and a Rottweiler. My Rotti is very picky and won’t eat raw food, boiled eggs, carrots (sometimes) I think it’s a texture thing. I do add Dr. Marty’s freeze dried food in their afternoon feeding with water. Do you have any suggestions for him?

What do you think of Nextrition dog food? Thank you
I have a 7 yo springer who LOVES raw zucchini. At one time he weighed 78 lbs! Our vet advised us to get the weight down and told us to use HS weight management. He’s done very well on that for over 2 years and is now down to 60 lbs. However he’s still on the chunky side and I haven’t been successful at getting him thinner. I make homemade dog food but I’ve changed the recipe many times. There’s so many opinions out there. Is rice ok or not? Is sweet potato ok? It goes on and on. I can’t afford the higher priced freeze dried foods and since I’m retired I have the time to cook fresh meals. So now that there’s issues with dog foods, and HS is on that list, I’m worried. HS is the only food I’ve found that has under 300 calories per cup. My homemade food is around 280 calories per cup. I weigh and measure everything I give him. He’s just a little couch potato what can I say? My question is about zucchini. It’s not on your list of ok foods to feed but my vet says it’s healthy and he loves it. I use it for treats. He loves broccoli, green beans, carrots, spinach, zucchini, all of these I use in my homemade recipe. I also add chicken hearts and ground turkey. He’s doing very well on that. Sometimes I add a can of sardines to the mix. Am I on the right track?
I’m sooo glad that i found your channel today. Our dachshund cross is overweight, having dental issues and hip and joint issues and he’s only 6 years old. I have to make changes immediately and I’m going shopping tomorrow and will be taking all of your advice. Up til now hes been on an Iams kibble with hip and joint liquid added to his food and thats it. Hes very inactive, does like to play, he has 3 walks a day but gets tried easily. He should be around 18lbs and is currently 26.8lbs
I have a puppy and he eats 3 times a day. Should I add kibble toppers to each meal or just one?
Yeah but how much is it? I can BARELY afford cheap dog food.
What do you do if you have tried several fruits for toppers and your dogs aren’t interested? I’ve tried bananas, Blueberries, strawberries. They aren’t interested but I want to give them fruits. I believe I even tried watermelon ans they weren’t interested in that either….ughhh
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!
Hi. Im looking for new food for my 9 month old golden i dont see any video about what food u think is good only your revirws and foods you dont like
Do you have any videos for best weight gainer for senior chihuahuas
Love your videos!
What was the brand of bone broth u used ?
I know you have to limit dogs’ intake of cruciferous veggies because it can be hard on their stomachs, but my dog LOVES broccoli, almost as much as she loves meat, so I share small bits with her whenever I eat it. She goes nuts for it. She also loves halloween because she gets to eat small bits of the pumpkin from carving jackolanterns. I really should be buying pumpkin for her more often, since it’s really good for dogs and she loves it.
On a different note: Organic foods aren’t better. There’s no agreed upon definition of what "organic" means. The label is more of a marketing gimmick than a useful piece of information. There are often multiple certification organizations in each country, and oversight of organic certified farms is pretty lax in most places, so two different "organic" products can have vastly different planting, growing, and harvesting practices, even if they’re the same type of product.
There is nutritionally NO difference between organic and non-organic fruits and vegetables. Nutritionally speaking, broccoli is broccoli, bananas are bananas. You’re getting the same stuff from each regardless of how it’s labeled.
Organic products aren’t necessarily safer. You should wash all produce, but it’s especially important to wash organic produce VERY well. Some organic fertilizers and pesticides can be problematic or outright dangerous and don’t break down over time or wash off easily, so you can’t trust that they’re "clean enough" from cleaning and packaging processes, or from a little rinsey rinse under your sink faucet. Example: copper and sulfur, which aren’t inherently dangerous (many fruits and veggies contain those chemicals naturally) but in large quantities they can cause health issues. Getting extra from unwashed food is potentially dangerous. Another example: many organic farms use untreated manure as fertilizer, which increases contamination from e. coli and salmonella.
It’s not more environmentally friendly either. Organic pesticides are often less effective, and therefore require higher quantities at higher frequencies, with products that can have a higher environmental impact, than synthetic products that have been specially tailored to make their effects more specific to the target pest and less dangerous to environment or human health.
Organic foods aren’t necessarily bad. I’m personally indifferent as to which I buy. Availability, price, and freshness are all more important factors for me than whether or not it is (or isn’t) organic, and I buy organic options when they meet my needs. But you can’t assume foods are better or safer just because they have an organic label. You can have an organic farm that coats their crops in harmful "natural" pesticides twice per month and a non-organic farm that barely, if at all, uses pesticides. You can have an organic farm that manages pests and other environmental risks with native predator species, crop mixing, and crop rotation, and a non-organic farm that liberally sprays pesticides that are questionable and may be banned in the near future. Some organic farms are amazing, some are terrible. Some non-organic farms are amazing, some are terrible. The point is, the organic label tells you very little, and I get frustrated when influencers tell people they should be spending more for a label that doesn’t actually mean anything.
what dog food you have in that bowl?
What can I feed my chihuahuas
Thanks for all these videos! I’ve searched the internet and YouTube for months, looking for tips on healthy dog foods and treats. I am so glad I found your channel. I’ve learned more from you in 2 days than I’ve learned from months of watching other videos. You have the best channel for dog health by far! I’ll definitely keep watching as my pups grow 😊
i love your ideas for toppers, however a reminder to everyone: before you feed your dog raw items inform your vet (as raw comes with it’s cons and needs more precautions) and speak to a vet nutritionist, as they are better educated in nutrition to help you handle raw snacks or foods and your pup. there is also nothing wrong with feeding your dog dental treats! reading the ingredients of a kibble or otherwise is NOT the best way to figure out if it is ‘good’ or ‘bad.’ and there are plenty of articles by nutritionists that explain what to really consider when buying treats or food. if you want to buy dental treats/water etc for your pet please look for the VOHC (veterinary oral health council) label to know that item has been tested and proven to work, it’s very helpful esp if you can’t brush your dog’s teeth once a week (or even at all for some reason or the other)
What a crap! Dogs need pure raw meat to be healthy! Try to give all this agly stuff to a wolf or tiger! Because of your kind of food dogs and cats get horribly sick! Animals don’t need fibre, but animal fat and animal protein!!! You better watch about carnivore diet for dogs and cats!
The problems with these super healthy dog foods are they’re extremely expensive and when you’ve got two medium to large dogs, you’re talking $400 a month to buy their product. Thanks but no thanks
This is so helpful. I have a 25# 6 month old Berniedoodle we just got and still a little confused on how much she should be eating
My dog won’t eat wet kibble or actual wet food so it’s harder to incorporate more liquid in his diet. Any suggestions?
You are the only one who’s awesome and so aware of letting people know especially the scientist talk with the raw food so I thank you very much for that
Dogs (and humans) are CARNIVORES by the way. I know , no one told you. Well Im telling you now. Many are finally awakening, many won’t. Yes ,feed them kibble and "healthy toppers" and they will be sick and fat and on meds like humans. NO…dogs and humans dont need fiber at all , zero , zip , zilch. Ignorance is bliss in the matrix I guess. Get a clue.
I started feeding Sunday’s because I thought something like Maev was too expensive. They charge me $211 for two 72oz bags!! I have a 40lb dog and have spent $1200 on his food for the last 3.5 months! Looks like Im swapping to Maev and saving money!
What brand of kibble are u currently using?
Hi Rachel ! I just switched my dog to Maeve and it’s AMAZING!!!! Thank you so much for recommending it !!!!!
Amazing channel and advice. Just a small side note: Strawberries are the highest in pesticides. If possible, get organic.
I love your videos And I hope you make more. now let’s get to the question. we are feeding my dog kibble, and I feel like he needs a better type. What would you recommend?
Can I give my dog Ollie food?
My dog wil not eat strawberries, let alone fruit!
Fantastic idea!!

What’s your dog’s favorite topper? 🤔
My last dog made it to 21
Rachel, you are a treasure trove of information which will help me be the best pet parent I can be to Gibbs, my rescue Boxer-Pit! He is adorable, but most importantly he has saved my husband’s life. My husband suffers with chronic depression. He has been working at home now 3.5 years..alone, isolated, anxiety ridden, but as he grew worse ( the worst of our 43 years together) the ONLY bright spot was his relationship with our then 1 year old rescue who adored him❤️. Gibbs needed exercise, play time, food and hubby was the only one here everyday! He had to move, go outside, fresh air, sunshine FOR Gibbs. They are the best of buds so now Gibbs has separation anxiety when hubby goes out. I know that Gibbs has improved hubby’s quality of life!! I will do anything to give Gibbs his best life❤️❤️Thanks for educating my journey
Learned a lot off this vido Rachel is there like a 3 n 1 vitamin i cood get he really n bad way needs relief its been lik 3 r4 months got some all natural slippery elm first day i hope i c some kind + sign thanks a million Rachel we’ll be watching ✌️❤ Goatbutt
Soft boiled eggs, spaghetti squash, sardines, sour krout, apple, blueberries, sea calcium, garlic, ginger, raw organic pumpkin seeds, and Dr. Mercola glandular powder.
Love your ideas however what do yo do if your dog won’t eat a single one of these. Extremely picky and every single one of these recommendations is a no go for him… His is a 2 yr. old Goldendoodle.
Excellent video, Rachel ❤
Thanks for the advice
Sorry ; I had the laugh at the chicken feet , my Rottie (forced adoption) would not bother chewing those ; they go straight down the hatch 🤣
Love this content!! Thank u so much!
I just got a puppy and i have been binge watching your videos and taking notes. I know the information im getting is legit and trustworthy, and I love im able to take better care of my baby. Just THANK YOU! I
Pumpkin, all different colored veg, milk thistle, mushrooms, sunflower seed oil, gizards, pineapple, spirulina, phytoplankton, fermented wheat grass, cooked salmon, olive oil.
Thank u this helps a lot I might get a dog because my mom says show me u can do it for a dog
The struggle is seeing all of these new and excited raw and fresh food dog brands that are outrageously expensive; way more than my own food budget
I just got a puppy… what is healthy and safe to start out with for them? Thanks
My Dae loves eggs, guacamole, bananas, watermelon, beef, chicken, beef. I feed her with me if it’s kosher. Her kibble and fresh pet last along time. ❤🎉
Thank you for the video! I’ve never focused or understood nutrition well and I appreciate how simply you broke it down. I’m going to look into getting some healthy fat and moisture additives to start for my pomsky. Is there large variances in requirements for different breeds?
Strawberries are the most dirty fruit alive . I lived in the salt bowl in CA . Those thing are sprayed like crazy . Organic is the same . Stay away from strawberries
