Hi Emma, just want to say I’m glad I found your channel just a few months back. Before that I’ve been watching minimalist videos but couldn’t throw out my empty lotion/shampoo containers. So now I decided to continue just being practical. THANK YOU for your videos, take care 😌

6:07 My work has a litter refill station that’s really cheap. It is unfortunately clay litter but it’s not a bad option if it’s what you can afford or what’s available. Most of our regular customers use the refill station, too.

I have recently learned about sustainable living and i had so many questions about my pets. This helped a lot. I appreciate you making videos like these 💛

Unless they are able to groom themselves you don’t really need to bathe a cat. I reccomend just grooming her with a brush as often as you can. If it’s necessary you should definetely cut their nails before doing it, and doing it as fast as possible

The one area I have troubles with is food. I work at a modern/holistic vets office so I trust them, however the food is obviously packaged in plastic. They are medicated tho so I just have to sacrifice the plastic for my fur baby.

I saw a man use an old disposable glove to pick up his dog’s poop 😅 it looked super gross as he was just walking along wearing the glove and then picked up the poop with his hand and turned the glove inside out but its an interesting way to reuse!

  7. @crowgrl13 on June 3, 2025 at 12:38 pm

The main thing about bathing a cat (I used to work for a vet that also did grooming): they don’t like slippery surfaces. The bottoms of most sinks/tubs are slippery. The best thing you can do is put a hand towel at the bottom, and that gives them something to grip onto.
Besides that, they’ll still probably hate it.

Also! Ask your local free group!!

  9. @OutdoorKris on June 3, 2025 at 12:45 pm

I use the pellet litter that turns to sawdust and burry it so it decomposes 😊

  10. @joysjourney19 on June 3, 2025 at 12:47 pm

For bathing a cat, for one that’s never been bathed before and is not super docile I recommend a bath sack, if they’re docile enough you can do it with one person holding the cat and the other scrubbing and rinsing them. 🙂

Tidy Cats litter tubs are the single most useful type of container ever! I’ve given some to family members who all use them regularly, and we use ours as rain collection bins (after we cleaned them out first of course) and storage containers for grilling supplies and all sorts of other things

  12. @zerowastehomestead2518 on June 3, 2025 at 12:49 pm

Please do not put your cat poop down the toilet, in a lot of places it is illegal and puts toxins into the water supply. … if you are composting your pet waste you need to make sure it is not near anything edible as again is potentially toxic…. and my last tip is when brushing your animals, put the fur outside and the birds will take it to line the nests.

Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video!! 💖

  14. @samanthaanngraham3130 on June 3, 2025 at 12:50 pm

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t let cats play with hairties/ ponytail elastics!! Those of us in the veterinary field have had to surgically remove so many of these from cat stomachs/GI tracts! (also earbuds, ear plugs, and nerf darts). These objects are a huge risk for causing foreign body blockage. I’ve lost track of how many stories I’ve heard (from others and personally myself at work) of people thinking their hairties just kept "disappearing" (thinking the cat lost them under furniture or appliances) only to find out, sadly, their cat had actually swallowed them! 😿

  15. @reissval on June 3, 2025 at 12:50 pm

Gardeners use those cat litter tubs as containers for growing plants.

  16. @rebeccacarlin6103 on June 3, 2025 at 12:51 pm

We’ve been using something that is labeled for equine use as litter. They are compressed sawdust pellets that we use with a litter box that has a grate at the bottom for the loose sawdust to fall through when she urinates on it.

  17. @Karebear01 on June 3, 2025 at 12:53 pm

PLEASE make sure that your community septic system allows for pet poop down the toilet!!! Some municipalities don’t allow of pet poop because it cannot be filtered properly and ends up damaging the system!

PSA. Don’t do this in California! Poop and litter should not be flushed into municipal sewer systems, because many of them cannot eliminate Toxoplasma, a rather nasty organism sometimes present in cat waste; its release into the ocean has been known to kill sea otters.

  18. @juliarymaszewska1719 on June 3, 2025 at 12:54 pm

I appreciate this kind of videos 🙂 However, I wanted to just mention (absolutely not as hate), that "Tidy Cats" is unfortunately a Nestle branch – Nestle Purina. This company is still suspected of child labor, unethical promotion, pollution, price fixing and mislabeling.
Just wanted to put it out there.

P.S. If this is an only available option to you, than that is a whole other story 🙂

  19. @shadowofthenorm on June 3, 2025 at 1:00 pm

Never fear, cats don’t usually need baths because they clean themselves. So unless you notice increased clumping of hair or that she is having difficulty cleaning herself (which is common with older cats mostly) then you are good to let her do her thing!

  20. @alexianasuti on June 3, 2025 at 1:02 pm

Also for collars and harnesses I absolutely love Lupine. They are super high quality, come in all sorts of colors and designs, and offer an eco line which are made of recycled plastic bottles. The best thing about them though is they have a lifetime guaruntee, so if you get to the point where a collar or harness is no longer repairable, you can send it in and they will send you back a brand new one at no extra cost (you may have to pay for postage, but dont quote me on that)

  21. @OrganicSilverMoonDesignsLLG on June 3, 2025 at 1:11 pm

Wow Glad I came to see this. Thank you .

  22. @alexianasuti on June 3, 2025 at 1:12 pm

When it comes to my cats food, I opt for higher quality food and dont focus as much on the packaging. In my experience, feeding higher quality food (I personally feed Orijen for dry and Primal for wet) keeps my boys healthier and keeps their coats nice and soft, and I save tons in vet bills. My oldest cat (hes 15 now) was adopted when he was 10 and exclusively ate Meow Mix. I spent more in vet bills in the first year I had him because of all his dietary issues, skin issues, etc than i have in the last 4 years combined since switching him to higher quality. Obviously, not everyone can afford to pay such a high price for pet food, but I figure I’m saving a bunch of money in veterinary expenses, and all the waste that goes into treating my cats at the vet. I do buy the largest size available of both my wet and dry food though, since thats the one thing I can do in my situation to create less waste.

  23. @maddyg4024 on June 3, 2025 at 1:13 pm

Definitely checking out the Kind Pet! I havent found local sustainable options that meet me and my pets needs, thank you for sharing😊

Also, love this content! I actually found your channel because of your cat tree video😁

  25. @Domsfun on June 3, 2025 at 1:13 pm

There is also enzo pet it allows you to put pet waste in the garden it’s like a in ground composter.
Boxes and tshirts can make cat caves. line with a pet blanket and mat that you can wash. Think comfy and cosy.
You can find treats online to make. Just watch the ingredients.
I got 1 from RSPCA for tuna kibble (biscuit) treats. Also cooked chicken pulled no spices or herbs no salt. Don’t give the outside. Can also boil it with a tiny bit of spinach and sweet potato ( teaspoon max amount) this makes a nice broth or soup safe for cats. No other ingredients needed can be had same temp as baby bottles and stored in freezer for 2 weeks.
The cat grass can be grown inside too hydro or pot keep near a window with plenty of light. I live in an apartment and that works well.

  26. @cassandramiranda721 on June 3, 2025 at 1:14 pm

I have a shovel and I use the brown paper bags from the grocery store since my mom does the grocery shopping and will never remember to bring reusable bags lol I jus fill it and throw away at the end of the day

  27. @jlc670 on June 3, 2025 at 1:17 pm

I grow cat grass for my cats all the time, they love it. If you didn’t know most cat grass is grown from oats, I get the seeds in bulk from my local feed store. Also get to know what catnip looks like .it grows wild in a lot of north America.. I just go in my backyard and pick some fresh for my cats in southwestern ontario.

  28. @echopeco7313 on June 3, 2025 at 1:21 pm

I never see eco friendly videos about pets! Love it 🙂 as a personal crazy pet owner I like to choose pet foods that are made by companies that are eco friendly, like The Honest Kitchen. Companies like Purina is owned by Nestlé and Meow Mix is owned by Smuckers. Both companies who have horrible practices.
I also wanted to mention that people should be mindful about what their pets play with. I work at a emergency pet hospital and we get cats in all the time who ate hair ties and string and need emergency surgery.
And just an idea for cat treats, dehydrated plain meats are easy and they love it!

  29. @tinyhouseknits on June 3, 2025 at 1:21 pm

Hey! I just wanted to check how you are doing with the flooding in Las Vegas? Hope you are safe and okay!

  30. @Forbearne on June 3, 2025 at 1:24 pm

you probably don’t know this but flushing cat litter/ cat waste can put Toxoplasma gondii into the water that harms see creatures like otters. would not recommend flushing pet waste

  31. @Minimalist_Roots on June 3, 2025 at 1:24 pm

    Early 🤍🤎

  32. @mukina on June 3, 2025 at 1:26 pm

For our cat litter, we get 40lb bags of pine pellets from TSC (farm and country store? Idk if they’re national). It’s $6.49/bag, which unfortunately is a plastic one, but we reuse it as a garbage bag. It’s a bit more of a chore to sift the good pellets out from the powder that happens when they break down but it’s well worth the extra effort
