Ingredients Basic Recipe:
5 lbs raw chicken thighs with skin on and bone in
7 oz raw chicken livers
14 oz raw chicken hearts (or 4000mg taurine and 14 oz chicken thigh meat)
4 raw egg yolks
2000 mg taurine
4000 mg fish oil
200 mg vitamin B complex
200 iu Vitamin E
1 1/2 tsp lite salt (I used 2 tsp kelp powder)

My additions:
1 scoop of Amazing Grass Amazing Trio powder
2 cups of steamed non-starchy vegetables (I used carrots and zucchini)

PLEASE NOTE: I used 10 LBS of raw chicken thighs instead of 5 LBS. There is an ongoing debate as to what percentage of cat food should be liver (5% or 10%) or heart. Recipes for cat food vary widely with regards to ingredients and amounts. Make sure to feed your cats a varied diet to compensate for what is still unknown and up for debate with regards to cat food and nutrition.

Salt and Pepper the extra chicken skin and put on a pan and bake it in the oven until crispy! I love chicken chips!

  5. @VictoriaViolet1849 on September 17, 2025 at 6:25 pm

Maybe it would be easier to just buy one small pack of boneless skinless thighs and one pack of bone and skin on so you dont have to try and cut them up. I think that’s how I’ll try to do it.

Thank you for this video. Very helpful. I have a couple of questions for someone who has been feeding cooked food for their cats, or canned cat food:
    – Can we easily switch to raw from canned/cooked food? Should I be wary of any stomach sensitivity or worms?
    – where to the vitamins used, like B and E? Are they especially made for cats and dogs or we can just use something from the pharmacy?
    – For how long will can the food stay in the refrigerator?

I hope these questions don’t come across as annoying. It’s a learning journey and I am discovering more healthy options for my cats

    P.S. new subscriber for you

Would a food processor work with minimal bones to get started making raw food???

What other types of proteins do you use?

  10. @Michelle-oe7vr on September 17, 2025 at 6:31 pm

Do you make broth from the bones?

Need to include the cost of portion packaging in total cost.

  15. @ashleynielsen9739 on September 17, 2025 at 6:35 pm

Please don’t use gloves when handling raw chicken!!! You don’t wash the gloves after you use them so you’re really just spreading potential salmonella around your kitchen, inside your garbage lid, etc. Just use your hands and wash them afterwards. It’s better for you, your home and the environment.

  16. @roseoftheworld45 on September 17, 2025 at 6:36 pm

Friskies is the worst. We changed Lola’s wet food and she is doing so much better. I’d like to try this โคโค

Why are you grinding up the bones and adding it to the food

but where to buy chicken hearts? Living back east they were easy to get but not out here.

  25. @DanaDissent on September 17, 2025 at 6:44 pm

Do you have recipes for using different types of meat? I will be making my own raw food for my group of 8 kitties soon, and am looking for info on different proteins so they don’t get tired of chicken.

  26. @MariaHall-o8k on September 17, 2025 at 6:45 pm

Oh dear, my three rescues were brought up with Royal Canin. This was advised by their vet. Anything else put down for them to eat is sniffed and ignored. Needless to say, if looks could kill, i would be dead years ago!!!

  27. @lyonclaws5737 on September 17, 2025 at 6:46 pm

is there a version for kittens?

  28. @joannevans8278 on September 17, 2025 at 6:46 pm

Safe the bones to make great broth ๐Ÿ’š

  29. @GhostGaming-tt9tu on September 17, 2025 at 6:47 pm

Trust me, wet food from the store is cheaper than this.
I feel like people are underestimating how expensive good and healthy chicken meat is compared to a lower quality chicken meat product and chicken hearts are definetly more expensive than people think. Its even a luxury for non-pet families. Idk… if you have the money for that high tier stuff, good for you I guess. Where I live, this stuff is just too expensive.

  30. @DesireeRk36 on September 17, 2025 at 6:50 pm

I watched this video several times where is the b complex? Iโ€™m ordering ingredients. This will be my 3rd time making cat food. Itโ€™s not easy.

  31. @charles1606 on September 17, 2025 at 6:53 pm

I’m pretty sure some wet cat food is cheaper by the pound and a lot of dry cat food is definitely cheaper by the pound

  32. @gailremp8389 on September 17, 2025 at 6:53 pm

Is it a mudt to grind the ch๐Ÿ˜ฎcorn.

  33. @jessedeane6036 on September 17, 2025 at 6:53 pm

Oh goodness, I had a black short hair named Boo. Actually Durban Boo I miss that lil Girl!

  34. @QuickBytes-p4f on September 17, 2025 at 6:58 pm

How often do you feed your cats the food? Twice a day? Do you still give them cat pellets? I have 10 feral cats that I look after

  35. @jimpuckett8270 on September 17, 2025 at 7:00 pm

Also would it not be good to grind up the egg shell into the mix for Calcium?

  36. @cvirtue6831 on September 17, 2025 at 7:01 pm

Is this recipe still balanced if I cook it? Iโ€™m nervous about bird flu with the raw meats, or can we use a different protein thatโ€™s raw?

  37. @lazuligrotto5674 on September 17, 2025 at 7:01 pm

how do i make sure the raw food is safe for my cat to eat?

  38. @terrimykland1621 on September 17, 2025 at 7:01 pm

    Remarkably succinct. ๐Ÿ˜

  39. @SophieBird07 on September 17, 2025 at 7:02 pm

Lol. So happy to see a kitty names Hydrox. Wins over Oreo every time in my book, both name and cookie.

  40. @lewisdemoss8760 on September 17, 2025 at 7:03 pm

is it rough for a cat to transition from kibble to this? im thinking of doing this.

  41. @tedblackburn8679 on September 17, 2025 at 7:05 pm

In stead of throwing away the chicken skins , you should tan them and make yourself a chicken skin wallet?

  42. @LuckyFerals on September 17, 2025 at 7:05 pm

PLEASE NOTE: I am so used to making large batches of homemade raw food for the cats, and keeping organ meats to around 10% of the ingredients, that I didn’t realize this recipe only used 5 lbs of chicken instead of the 10 lbs I used in the video. Please DOUBLE the amount of supplements in the recipe OR ONLY USE 5 lbs of chicken thighs.

I am looking into making some of my pets’ food (particularly the cat) and am curious how the kitchenaid has stood up to use? I would be grinding meat and bones like you but in smallish batches as the dogs would eat the bones as is rather than ground, so 1-2 sets of bones a month? I may get a dedicated grinder in the future but am hoping this is a reasonable entry level tool that wont burn out the machine?

  45. @ladawnemalone2955 on September 17, 2025 at 7:07 pm

I would be worried that theyโ€™re gonna get salmonella. The conditions of these factories and inhumane conditions of the chicken is bad enough for human consumption, but I commend you for your efforts I would personally will have to cook it just to get rid of the bacteria and whatever else is in there.

  46. @EwelinaKabzinska on September 17, 2025 at 7:07 pm

I absolutely want to try it, I have 5 kitties and want the best for them. How can I introduce the raw food to them?? They’re getting a nice wet food dinner every night as Im slowly introducing them to better food. One cat is a senior the rest are about 2yo each ๐Ÿ˜Š

  47. @jimpuckett8270 on September 17, 2025 at 7:08 pm

Is there any reason this cannot also be fed to our dog?

  48. @tonystark4315 on September 17, 2025 at 7:08 pm

have a nice day. is this recipe still relevant? I have a question about the bones. bird bones are hollow. after grinding they will be sharp like broken glass. is this safe? maybe they should be replaced with bones from other animals (not birds). thanks

  49. @MichaelBriggs3 on September 17, 2025 at 7:08 pm
