A can of wet food here in Canada is $2.50 to $4 for a 256 gram/ 5.5oz tin. I do feed meals to my three older cats, wet in the morning, a little dry mid day, then wet for supper, a little dry later. They all love to drink from various fountains throughout the house. My baby Maine Coon eats RAW….which actually is CHEAPER than the tinned wet food. Go figure.

Why it’s better to feed wet food? In Norway vets say exactly the opposite, that wet food should be only as a snack, because it stays on the teeth
my cat prefers dry food, i give her wet food for breakfast and dinner. along with real meat ever other day. i think she likes to chew on stuff in general. she is a healthy weight and my vet says shes healthy. fed is best

What can you feed for their teeth? I think sth in the wet food changed, cause within two years my cat developed teeth problems. And one I have years longer without that much plaque build up. Vet recommends dry food, so I exchanged their one dry meal to dental dry and it seems to help. But doesn’t fix the main issue. I’m also switching wet food brand, but I’m on a budget and can do only so much.

look, my cat stopped eating all canned food. No matter flavor or brand. she lost weight. Now I have dry food and top it off with tuna salmon in broth. It’s more important for me for my cat to eat.

My cat doesn’t want dry food! I have a whole different problem. She only eats wet food and can be, well expensive in my country…But, I love her so much, and she’s in good health so far with almost always wet food.
One thing you don’t address is dental care…if only fed wet food they are not chewing and knocking the plaque of their teeth..not all cat will accept raw bones.
I am having issues with my vet as she wants me to feed mostly dry so she never has dental issues and I want to feed mainly wet. Also having trouble with how much to feed calorie wise. For the moment she is extremely healthy. She gets a can for breakfast and dry the rest of the day.

C’mon dude. We all know wet cat food on a regular basis is bad for a cats health (unless it’s meat on a bone).

I give mine half and half. Wet mixed with dry. Also a bowl of dry. They’re still kittens under 6 months so it’s very expensive to feed both. I wish I could afford to give them only wet but i’m already spending $100 a month on their wet food and $15 on their dry.
I give high quality dry food with water to the strays around my apartment. No meal, no grain. I have seen a major difference in the ones that eat it in there coats and health. The ones I know eat from others thats the really cheap stuff they look awful.
My dry food is helping keep my cats from producing as many allergens… Both my partner and I are allergic. We feed them wet food too, but with the dry food, we know we can keep them without suffering too much.

I never ever heard of this…first of all I don’t think it’s affordable in this house and I worry about ther teeth or breath but I do buy them dental treats.( Organic)which they have twice a day cuz ther spoiled and I feed them wet food once a day and chicken sometimes raw chicken breast or cooked cut up in slices. Plus I feed them I AMs Chicken mostly cuz that’s what they like. My 2rescue cats Sky and Tim are Happy Kampers No shots no nothing! Healthy as can be😺😸I live in a a.small town in the North Woods😅with lots of room for them to wander . They mostly jump in and out the bathroom window to reach the great outdoors to use the bathroom, but I have 2 liter boxes for them in the basement just in case. I feel lucky 🍀to have them ❤❤
I just got a cat who’s been eating dry food her whole life. Don’t know how long it will take for her to eat enough wet food that i can quit buying dry food
I have an automatic feeder and fountain for my 3 yr old 8lb grey tabby Lyra. She’s fed 2 x day (10am/pm) If i feed her a 3rd time with wet food, she’ll be an unhealthy weight. Are automatic dry feeders a bad idea? Should I give 1/4 can a day as a snack? How much food should she be eating daily? I figured 6oz is a full can’s worth a day?

It’s not always feasible to just feed your cat wet food all the time. There are unavoidable situations when dry food would be readily available. I have four cats and with the prices of wet food constantly rising it’s not always affordable for me. I had a very healthy cat that lived for 17 years on dry food and wet food.

I give them both. Wet food helps them hydrate. Dry food helps keep their teeth clean. Both brands are high quality and loaded with nutrients.
