Feeding a Raw Diet for $1.20 Per Pound: Budget Carnivore Dog Food

Sharing the secrets to how I consistently feed my dog a raw carnivore diet for around $1.20 per pound! These are the carnivore budget staple foods I always buy.

There is a common misconception that the carnivore diet is expensive and unaffordable, and this can prevent people from trying the diet, causing them to miss out on all the amazing benefits the carnivore lifestyle can offer. This is true for not only us, but for our dogs as well.

In this video I share my secrets to exactly how I consistently feed my dog a raw carnivore diet for less than $1. per pound, which is significantly cheaper than nearly every premium kibble brand on the market! By doing this, I have not only been able to feed my dog a species-appropriate diet that is going to allow her to live a long, happy, healthy life, but it saves me quite a bit of money as well! The best part? We can share almost all the foods I buy!

I find the best deals buying local, and with my massive directory, you can too! Browse over 7,200 local farms, butcher shops, & meat processors: https://apexpackandtribe.com/localresources

I just found your channel after searching for “raw diet” for my dogs, so forgive me if I ask a question that may have been covered in some other video. 😊

You are so informative and knowledgeable—I appreciate the info!

One questions is—have you completely transitioned your dogs to raw, or is there still a little kibble in their food bowl every meal? My concern is transitioning too quickly and possibly causing my 3 to get sick—I’ve done that once before with kibble with one of my dogs (RIP Blue), and he got so sick. What’s the best way to achieve a successful transition or is just doing it slowly, adding a little more raw and a little less kibble each meal the way to go?

Sir you did say anything about carbs from rice and fish and chia seeds for omega fatty acids, curd and coconut oil

When you feed your dogs eggs do you include the shells as well?

  4. @Koolaukoa on February 15, 2025 at 9:06 pm

A lot of organs, chicken feet, tendons, tripe, gizzards can also be found in ethnic supermarkets like Asian markets.

Love the video, I’ve watched alot and this is the best one I’ve seen since I started this journey about a week ago, my question is…if the canine will always be on the smaller side, should the food be ground (I have a grinder that will grind bone) or left whole? Or is it a personal choice? Thanks in advance 🙂

Do you give your dogs any omega 3s, probiotics, vitamins, etc.?

  9. @greatnationnow on February 15, 2025 at 9:11 pm

Butcher’s in my northern state are no where near that cheap. Our closest one imports all her meat from big Ag, and sells it as "local", charging $3.99/lb for chicken. No one sells turkey necks, or ground up leftovers in my state. Does your local butcher ship?

How do you handle giving your dog a chicken leg? Don’t they drag it around the house and lay it on the carpet and eat it

Great video. I have a Boerbel that is 185 pounds. I do everything this video says. I do feed the entire eggs with shell, sardines in water, pumpkin powder, multivitamin powder, green tripe and a probiotic. Oh I add some oatmeal also. It helps with heart health and digestion.

Holy crap – in Ontario, Canada you’d be lucky to find any of that meat for less than $5 a pound.

  19. @melissahowe6254 on February 15, 2025 at 9:24 pm

1 egg a day , chicken legs, chicken gizzards 10% of food , chicken feet 1-2 per day , redmeat 25% , tripe , turkey necks small section per day , scrap butcher meat , kidney and liver

  20. @trackness95 on February 15, 2025 at 9:26 pm

The tripe should be green tripe. The tripe that you shown is bleached tripe and doesn’t have any nutritional for dogs. I would ask a local farmer for green tripe as it really is a good source of manganese.

  21. @goona7700 on February 15, 2025 at 9:26 pm

So, do you thaw and give it to them raw?

  22. @SAMMYANTHA81 on February 15, 2025 at 9:26 pm

I also recommend sardines in water from Amazon for $1 something a can. Omega 3 will counter omega 6 in beef.
Mussels and clams for zinc and selenium.
    I also feed pork neck.
    I shop at ethnic markets.

  23. @annieoaklee7588 on February 15, 2025 at 9:27 pm

Excellent video! (*you might want to check out ‘green tripe’ vs storebought cleaned/bleached tripe) Your video gave me hope. I have two large dogs, one is very ill, so I switched her to total raw. It has made a difference! She is happier again, runs, swims and plays. I wish I had done this with all my dogs. We only have one butcher within 3 hour drive. He will not touch poultry and his prices are the same or higher than the grocery stores. Strange. Luckily we have a big Walmart and a small family grocery that has excellent meats for a price less than Kroger – Yay. Again great video and thank you for doing that map. Wow!

  24. @theboatman6 on February 15, 2025 at 9:27 pm

Do you prepare batches in advance and freeze the individual meals or just shop week to week? Curious about the longevity of some of the items in the fridge.

  25. @mrwater2033 on February 15, 2025 at 9:27 pm

let’s also not forget about how cheap this is by calculating in that a lot of money is saved through less or almost no vet visits… it’s a win win!

What about carbs and other nutrients? Even if its a low percentage?

  28. @jenniferfields9001 on February 15, 2025 at 9:30 pm

Any idea on how much of what food to feed 3 month old chihuahua?😮

  29. @SwatchMeCrochet on February 15, 2025 at 9:31 pm

There is no way I can get these prices in my area. I have one butcher close and they are more than 2x the price of the big chains. And farmers are expensive. I can also get a 40 lb bag of dog food for $27. The local farmer that sells chicken grind of necks, backs and heads (not organ meats) is $6 a pound.

  30. @D33257 on February 15, 2025 at 9:33 pm

Dogs can eat raw bones? Thought chicken bones can kill dogs

  31. @dianabaughman695 on February 15, 2025 at 9:33 pm

Hi thank you for the videos! My husband went Carnivore over 1 month ago and are doing so well and I I am transitioning my 55 lb dog and struggling a bit with a few things. I bought the 10lb bag of chicken leg quarters and cooked them, deboned them and made bone broth with it. My question with that is it only gave me 3 1/2 pounds of meat and a ton of broth (which i put the skin and all in) she will drink the broth but how much should I give her and would it be more cost effective for the meat to buy boneless skinless chicken since it only made 3 1/2 pounds? My dog will probably never eat bones because she doesn’t like raw chicken and doesnt chew bones well. Also, when I made the bone broth the bones and very soft so could I make up for the loss of feeding her the raw bones by pureed bones? Where it is completely mush and no splintered bones ect.? I am adding hamburger which she likes raw and gizzards if I can find them.
I also wish we had cheaper meat here! Hamburger here at walmart is almost 5.00 a pound and local butchers here are 6.00 a pound. Most of the items you mentioned except chicken and hamburger our local walmart and meat processors don’t have them. Thanks so much for your help 😊

  32. @michaeltherrien6006 on February 15, 2025 at 9:37 pm

Do you grind the chicken leg quarters? I don’t have a grinder and can’t afford one right now but I know the bones are an important source of nutrients. Will she still benefit from a raw boneless diet for now? While my dog is a heavy chewer, I’m apprehensive about feeding her the bones.

  33. @oceans1259 on February 15, 2025 at 9:39 pm

Thanks so much for this video!! How much do I feed my dog? I’ve seen different calculations. I have a 1 yr old boxer 72lb and a 14yr old boxer mastiff 78lb. How do I know I’m feeding them enough? I just bought a meat grinder so I can grind all the bones up.

  34. @CarnivorePatriot on February 15, 2025 at 9:39 pm

Eating raw off of fresh kill is one thing. But is there any concern at all with bacteria due to handling and shelving, etc?

  35. @Summerbreeze537 on February 15, 2025 at 9:40 pm

    Does it give them diarrhea?

  36. @genuineimpulse9134 on February 15, 2025 at 9:40 pm

I was shocked at how cheaply I could buy grass fed heart and liver. Beef from the same suppliers was like $20 a pound but heart was $5 a pound and liver $2. Initially I was buying it to add to my own burger mixes but we started adding it to ground meats for the dogs as well.

  37. @Blue-wv3le on February 15, 2025 at 9:41 pm

It’s best to get the tripe meant for pet consumption because it’s green and not bleached. Green tripe is a great probiotic. Bleached tripe has most of its nutrients removed. I get mine from a natural pet food store but you can also order it.

How many times a day do you feed uoir dogs? I remember when i was a little girl growing up, we fed our dogs once a day. In the last i dont know 20 years maybe, it changed to twice a day. What do you recommend

  42. @Vinsonah_luvsShandie1989 on February 15, 2025 at 9:46 pm

7:56 thank you for this !! My mom gets meat from a local butcher every month so that will be perfect I can get a few of those and then it won’t be so hard to find the other ingredients which fortunately for me I only have a 4 1/2 pound and an 11 pound dog to feed but I still have a hard time finding what I need so I just buy brand raw dog food the kind you keep in the freezer or freeze dried and I would just prefer to feed them fresh raw food and food that I know exactky what is in it so thank you so much

Is it ok to air fry the turkey necks and chicken feet? Just wondering because another raw dogfood influencer does that.

  48. @Djam0 on February 15, 2025 at 10:02 pm

What about hormones and antibiotics? All of these you showed are not free of those …

  49. @Mholt007 on February 15, 2025 at 10:02 pm

My wiener dog seems to be allergic to everything but especially chicken and beef. She’s also SUPER picky, I spent ten years making her food and watching her not want to eat it. I recently got a lab and want to try again with raw food, is it safe to feed raw human grade? I read somewhere that if it’s raw it can have bacteria?

    10lb of chicken 6$
