*For the climbing pole, we have used Twisted Manila Rope – Natural 3 Strand Fiber Hemp Rope for Indoor and Outdoor.

* * To cover the tree, we used thin 16-gauge fencing wire, cutting it into small, manageable patches. Each piece was woven together, creating a flexible mesh that allowed us to accommodate the natural spacing and shape of the branches. We made deliberate openings to ensure the tree could breathe and grow without interference.
The process required working from a ladder to reach the higher sections and took considerable time and care. Despite the effort, the result was well worth it—secure, effective, and tailored to the tree’s unique form.

Our overall goal is to create a safe and fun outdoor feline habitat for our sweet shelter cats.
If you are considering making a Catio or outdoor space; we recommend including elements that promote exercise, climbing, places to hide and places to sleep. Included in this catio are native, non-toxic plants too. We also have several videos that cover Catio Design and other elements that you may want to include to give your feline the best experience possible. Just use your imagination and think like a feline.

**Full Disclosure: We’re not certified catio builders; we’re simply DIY enthusiasts who adore our cats. Our passion drives us to freely share our creations with fellow cat lovers online. 🐾😊

Our channel has several DIY cat projects, catio videos and special celebration parties to review. 🙀🔨 . We appreciate you watching and hope to see you again.

HI HOW DID THE TREE GET ENCLOSED WHAT METHOD WAS USED???

  2. @aleaboon on September 2, 2025 at 5:53 pm

This is pretty ideal for what I’d like to build for my cat. I live on a highway and my cat Tango was hit by a car on Saturday and we had to bury her. It was devastating. I have one cat left, he’s a kitten and I want to build a nice big enclosure for him so he can be outside and safely get exercise and enjoy nature.

  3. @kevinmunoz2725 on September 2, 2025 at 5:55 pm

Is there any chance or risk of bugs getting into the catio and causing any problems or damage to the cats

  4. @raquelmendes4400 on September 2, 2025 at 5:55 pm

It is so nice to see these lovely and loved cats. It is a very inspirational video. Thank you.

Wish I had a big catio for my baby!

  6. @californianorma876 on September 2, 2025 at 5:58 pm

This has got to be the best cat video!! I really appreciate your explanations of the different features. How you did it is not so important as why. That’s so helpful! I love your designs, and clearly the cats do too. 😻😻😻

We are planning to build a catio and would like the cats to enter it from a bedroom window, but haven’t figured out how they should go through the window into the catio. Any ideas? Do I need a cat door installed into the window? Also, do you sell your catio plans? You all did an amazing job on your catios. The best I’ve seen. Thank you!

  8. @FabiolaRVela on September 2, 2025 at 6:00 pm

Wow this is the coolest catnip I’ve ever seen! These kitties are living their best lives 😎. I hope to be able to give my kitties something like this (or close) one day.

After 30 yrs of no issues with my cats outside in the daytime in the country lost my beloved Mr Tibbs to a Golden Eagle. Just finishing up a huge Catio for my Maine Coon, always, looking for more ideas. Thanks.

  13. @Brandoncye on September 2, 2025 at 6:06 pm

    "Sure, lets go there!"
We still talking about roofs? 😅

  14. @larsonfamilyhouse on September 2, 2025 at 6:06 pm

This is easily the best one I’ve ever seen! Exactly what I had in mind for my yard. PS next time you do the roof, the screws with the done on top actually go on the top convex part rather than the bottom concave part. It seems weird since you have to use longer screws but thay way water doesn’t collect and go through the hole and rust the screw or leak through. Not too much of a problem with this design since you have grass and whatnot, especially if it doesn’t rain much there. Anyway, this is absolutely wonderful!!

  18. @MegaLivingIt on September 2, 2025 at 6:10 pm

Thank you guys so much! I had the same idea for roofing, etc. I am like 80 but think I should do this. Except no ladder climbing for me, so will build mine about 5 feet high!😀 I am keeping your video for when I use my power drill again!😺

  19. @sarahcarrelli2496 on September 2, 2025 at 6:10 pm

What type of rope do you suggest?

  20. @Ninetails37 on September 2, 2025 at 6:11 pm

My bengal would look at me, walk over to that door on two legs only, unlock it, and walk out without a look back. With a swagger.

  21. @michelleschaefer9545 on September 2, 2025 at 6:12 pm

Thank you for sharing, I learned a lot. ❤

  22. @Tom-j2m9j on September 2, 2025 at 6:12 pm

Hi Guys….what sort of air staple are you using to install the fencing with? About to start a Catio project using welded wire and want to be sure it is Coyote proof. Thanks for some great videos.

  23. @michelehell1362 on September 2, 2025 at 6:13 pm

Where do they potty? I may have missed that part doing other stuff while watching…

  24. @Ms.Frankenbuilder on September 2, 2025 at 6:13 pm

That opening in the doorway is begging for all sorts of bugs.

  25. @Tom-j2m9j on September 2, 2025 at 6:13 pm

Great videos. I notice Grayson eating on a plant in the Catio. Would you share what that is? As we complete our first Catio I would like the add some safe foliage. I am always concerned when we see one of babies eating on a plant. Thanks for all the hard work with the videos.

  26. @judymckinney7984 on September 2, 2025 at 6:16 pm

I love this Catio. It is amazing. I have 4 indoor only that I would love to get outside. Do you get snow.

  27. @civilpse5458 on September 2, 2025 at 6:16 pm

For additional safety from outside dogs and cats, other animals, I would suggest an additional barricade around the existing. The weld mesh should be having smaller aperture.

  28. @judestewart3955 on September 2, 2025 at 6:19 pm

Great video and very helpful, thank you for sharing these great tips.

  29. @rosehill1595 on September 2, 2025 at 6:23 pm

I’m glad to see someone paid attention to what cats like/need – a place to hide, a spot for privacy, real grass and dirt alongside smooth walks – no scorching hot concrete – instead lots of wood, trees, plants incl catnip – room to roam and play and hang out. It shouldn’t be solely a tribute to someone’s impressive carpentry skills or colorful creativity – nothing wrong with either, in fact that’s what makes it a unique fun project for both the kitty and the human. It should be all about the kitties – that could include rainbow crystals they can chase in the sunshine and cool carpentry cut outs for their hidey holes or clever macrame swings or beautifully designed lounge areas with no gravel to poke their feet.

  30. @AmBr0313 on September 2, 2025 at 6:23 pm

I love yalls commentary, and the attention you pay to your kitties and their preferences! My husband and I are moving in to our first home from a studio apartment and the main thing I’m excited about is all we can do for our cat! Thanks for the advice😊

Cats love the sun mine lay on the floor where ever the sun is beaming in. I used polycarbonate clear roofing for mine. Also have some hiding spots to get out of the sun if needed.

When adding plants in or around catio , check that they aren’t toxic to cats.❤

We can tell you really love and appreciate cats 🙂

  40. @anniepike5892 on September 2, 2025 at 6:40 pm

How did you incorporate the tree into the fencing

  41. @ruidadgmailcanada8508 on September 2, 2025 at 6:41 pm

    Lovely tips.
Cats ate in the sunroom while I build their Catio.
Unfortunately a chipmunk came in through the open window…not much left to identify. 😢

We have a mass chipmunk population that my Siamese cats could solve. 🤔

Love this catio!!! Roomy and sensible for cats’needs too. Looks like there’s a tree inside the catio? If so, that’s the best feature, cuz they can climb and sit up high in it’s branches!!! Brilliant!!! Those kitties must love you big time!! Thank you for sharing your video tips❤😻
