Cats are the most commonly reported rabid DOMESTIC animal. According to the CDC, in 2018, there were 241 cases of rabies among cats versus only 63 reported cases in dogs.

However, if you look at WILD animals too, they account for far more cases with 1,635 cases in bats, followed by 1,499 in raccoons (2018 Data, source: CDC).

i hear some cats can have rabies but show no signs
… I allmost died of rabis .. it bit me on the head … And .. I got a shot in the head and my frinking fuking sister almost killed me thats why i hate my sis brother they are the one who .. They always beat me up and i even got a black eye ..
I loved in daton ohio where there was lots of cats especially baby cats and iv never neet a rabies cat before and the cats there r nice or scary and its manly the baby cats that would let u walk up to them or r the friendly ones the same with some of the bugger cats but the others keeped to they self sometimes after accept pets and treats or not wanting to be bothered at all i haven’t meet any other rabies animals but iv seen a dog one before and it didnt come to me it didnt see me but i remember being young as 10 seeing it and didnt know y it was spitting so much till i learned more on it i knew about rabies cuz i was tought young but didnt think that but i thought it was acting weird i asked if it was thirsty aand thats when i was re taught on sings

Everyday when I walk to my bus stop, there’s a stray cat always waiting for me. Usually he would run up to me and start meowing also flopping on it’s back exposing his belly to me. Everytime I pet them though, they purr and start salivating but no foaming. They do not show any signs of aggression or symptoms from what I know. I’m not very sure though if he does or does not have rabies. Once you crouch down he runs to you for pets! 😛

I have a dog but only indoor dog no out door properly vaccinated
He bit me many times
But he’s fully under my observation plus completely vaccinated and not a stray dog so I don’t fear

My family and I often do errands and where we live there are tons of dropped off animals like cats and dogs, most of the time we take them in and either adopt them or give them a new home after the vet says all is good. One day however. I was sitting at home and my sister yells for me to look outside. I was in the middle of sleeping bc it was like 12:45 am and sadly I missed what she was looking at. But according to her, it was a small skinny looking fox with its head down and jumping around the yard. It didn’t bother none of our outside cats but it was strange because we don’t see foxes around here much. Anyone know if it was rabies or if it was just playing/hunting/ect?

Wrong. RACCOONS, FOX AND BATS are the most common animals with rabies. Get educated doc! Youre not a vet i would take my animals to. Lets add more misinformation to cats as if they dont struggle enough with shitty laws protecting them, low adoption rates, etc.

I’ve taken in stray cats, and I’m guessing that God is watching out for me because I’m taking care of his creatures. I run a cat sanctuary in my home, and I currently have 30 of them living here permanently. My primary focus are the cats that no shelter will even take because they are deemed on adoptable. I have cats in here with feline leukemia, feline aids and all sorts of illnesses and conditions. I have no regrets. I provide them with everything they need. I work two jobs to provide for them. They are my family.
