Yeah and when they don’t care and manage to continue pulling with a damn front clip harness, you’ll damage their shoulders. Sometimes even their spine.
Harnesses were made for the purpose of INCREASING pulling efficiency. They’re not designed for this "front clip" bullshit.
Train your dogs, don’t fall dependent on tools. Even my dad who’s not a dog person knows you have to modify the behavior, not only use tools. Tools can help, but if that tool is replacing training effort, you shouldn’t be using that tool. A training tool is meant to be phased out, used during training stages, not forever.

I don’t even need to buy this to know that those metal buckles are durable. I’ve gotten hung by the waist with those when I had my belt on that had those exact clips it held me forever.

Is there a harness were your dogs elbows don’t hit the side clips when they are walking?

  9. @Axiomatic75 on August 24, 2025 at 5:45 pm

A slip lead or prong collar is way, way better. Harnesses are garbage.

    Mine has 4 buckles.
And, yes, harnesses do work if you know how to handle and train your dog.
If you use only a collar, there’s a chance when the dog pulls too hard and you jerk on the leash too hard it can damage the dog’s neck and spine.
A good harness is a better option.
I have seen the damage done to dogs when the owner uses the training devices wrong. Like the prong collars and E collars.
Prong collars, if not used properly, can cause sores/ punctures in their necks. The E collars, if not used properly, can leave burn marks on the neck.
When you use a training device wrong and don’t try to improve your technique, it can be considered animal abuse.
Train your dog to heel by your side. Hook the leash on the front of the harness. If the dog tries to walk ahead of you or pulls, just turn the other way. The dog will follow you. If the dog does it again, turn the other way. Repeat. Eventually, the dog will get the message.
Be patient. Some dogs learn faster than others.
