I have an 8 year old English Mastiff with hip/joint issues and he still enjoys sleeping on his Big Barkers even with his inability to get up and down easily. Yes, we have two of these beds for him because they are so wonderful. I wish I had found this brand sooner. I estimate we spent thousands on various beds due to smell and/or inability to keep them clean . I think we bought the Big Barkers for $120/bed, and they easily fit our 180 pound baby.
I have been researching giant Ortho dog beds for months now. I have 2 Dogo Argentinos, that weigh approx. 125 pounds each. My older boy is going on 11 years old and has hip/joint problems. Well after coming across your thorough and very informative channel and dog bed reviews. Seeing your Mastiffs move around on the big barkers and knowing you’ve had them for years. We purchased the XL sofa style Big Barker with the waterproof liner.

Your boys are so handsome…..we lost our 200lb English Mastiff 2 years ago due to osteosarcoma 🙁 he was 9 1/2) we had such a time trying to find him a nice dog bed….they would go flat in no time it was so frustrating. I didn’t know about Big Barker so for the last year of his life he had a My Pillow dog bed which the biggest bed wasn’t quite big enough for him it was better than any of the others. We now have a Bernedoodle and I am looking at dog bed again he is only about 60lbs now but should be about 75 so it’s important to me not to go through a lot of the things I went through before. He does have a My Pillow bed but I was looking for another bed for another part of the house. Even though he isn’t a giant breed the information you presented is good for anyone because technically no matter the size of the dog…we dog parents are looking for the same things with support, manufacturing, cleaning etc. Give your boys a hug for me….I miss mine so very much !

Would love to try the Big Barker for my Newfoundland but,
$400.00 US dollars which is $550.00 Canadian dollars for me, is too much money to take a chance on when he may not even use it.
This is a great review, but I don’t think it’s accurate to measure the bed when you dog is standing on it. The foam is definitley crushed more when they are standing on it compared to how it would be while they are laying on it.
So the big barker is good for dogs that live in the desert?

I have a Kuranda bed with a pillow bed on top. The Kuranda should last a lifetime and the pillow’s heavy denim cover is easy to machine wash and dry. The dog likes it, too.
Have you had any experience with raised dog beds? I’m curious if these or regular dog beds are better overall . The claim is that raised is better for hip and joint issues but I haven’t had experience with one to know.

I am absolutely shocked that you didn’t get at least a sheet ( crib sized) for that bed. You can even get a waterproof one to go underneath it. Easy to wash, dry and put back on. I think you dropped the ball on this particular item review.
I’ve bought zippered nice quality and quiet crib or twin waterproof zipper covers for some dog beds. Then I put fleece fabric to put over

I recently spent 150cad on a dog bed and as a brand new (large) dog mom, I had no idea the type of things I should have been looking for in a dog bed… you should have seen the look on my face when I realized that ONLY the boulders on this bed were removable and the entire bottom was not??? but it was made out of velvety spongey material?? I was horrified by this horrible design and have to throw it in the garbage because my dog got sick and it’s IMPOSSIBLE to clean (I even tried to hand wash it but it still stinks).
Anyway, you have sold me on Big Barkers (they should pay you for excellent advertising). I wish the liners were cheaper but the bed overall definitely seems to be worth the investment for the quality, I can’t wait to receive my order!!

I think your reviews and assessments of the top 2 are spot on. As a dog mom of 3 giant breeds dogs, we own both Big Barkers and Bully Beds and both for almost the same length of time. I have had to buy numerous replacement covers for all of the bully beds over the last 4 years. All of them have come apart at the seams. All.of.them. However, all of my Big Barker covers look like the day they arrived. No rips, tears, or seams coming apart. So from a long term value perspective, Big Barker is the clear winner. I’ve paid many times over for the Bully Beds through new covers.
We bought the Kopeks Jumbo Orthopedic bed on Amazon for a little over $100. Very similar to the Bully, but much cheaper. We don’t have a xl dog, but she loves it.

4 out of 5! I appreciated the thoroughness of this review video. The information provided was extremely valuable in helping me choose a bed for my dogs. The downside of this video was the audio quality.It came through as pitchy. A better microphone or buffer could fix this. Also for the length and detail of this video, there was a LOT of a person sitting and talking. I wish this had been broken up with way more clips of the dogs. The video got a bit tedious /boring because of this. Overall the information was super valuable but missed the opportunity to keep my interest and entertain by providing more dog clips.

I bought an expensive Big Barker bed for our dog about 10 years ago and he did not like it at all. He never used it no matter what I tried. After 4 other dogs rejected it and it sat unused in a corner for 5 years we donated it to a rescue organization. I thought it was comfy but for some reason no dog ever wanted to be on it. My dogs just love their beds with eggcrate foam from Drs Foster & Smith. Unfortunately that company went out of business and the foam has started to become too soft. They have 6" of foam with a solid 3" base of high density foam on the bottom and a 3" layer of egg crate foam above it and a very comfy quilted cover. I haven’t found anything comparable and I’ve been searching for years now….
