This stuff is the best! When we moved from Seattle back to Alaska I was bummed no one sold it locally but found out you can order it directly from the company. Plus FREE SHIPPING if you get 50lbs!! That makes all the difference in the world when you’re on an island in the middle of nowhere. Our flock loves it and has been really healthy since getting it full time. Before I found out about buying directly from their site we had very limited options for feed, none of which even compares to Scratch & Peck.

They have a bunch of different feeds with different ingredients. Plus or minus corn etc…..whatchu recommend for laying hens that are 5 months old? Still starter feed?

We use Scratch & Peck feed all the time! Great food, safe & healthy😊😊🐓🐔

I also soak some of mine and sometimes let it sprout so it’s a green item also, in addition to just having it in the feeder straight from the bag

    Hi

People buy the highest quality dog food and pay premium dollar for it. It’s always expensive to eat healthy but it’s more expensive to be sick. Scratch and peck is unique because you can feed it straight, you can ferment it , and you can sprout it. And if you leave the feed on the ground and water it, it will grow and be another treat for the girls. The amazing things are all that you said. Scratch and peck even makes a pellet form that you can still ferment. Fermenting will stretch your dollars on the feed if it’s a concern. All around our favorite feed choice for our gals.

Is this the main feed you give you your animals?

  8. @Nikki29405 on August 15, 2025 at 5:01 pm

I have a question? Do your chicken waste a lot of your feed? I feed kalmbock hen house reserve. I feel like they pick out the good stuff and waste the rest. Thank you for your time. Hope to hear from you soon

If I bought this for my chickens I couldn’t afford rent 🤣

  10. @Truckerjoe88 on August 15, 2025 at 5:04 pm

I’m using the 18% layer feed and I’m also buying it off chewy just wanted to see if that’s the way it comes .

  11. @coohgrubs on August 15, 2025 at 5:11 pm

Sometimes they need some insect – based products to get more protein

  12. @cityfoodiefarm on August 15, 2025 at 5:11 pm

So much better than pellets. I use feed like that. I think my urban supply store sells that brand. I’ll make sure to check next time. Great review! I love your chickens!! ❤️

I have been buying the Scratch & Peck Layer feed -organic – at my local feed store and the girls love it. I am also fermenting it and they really go for it. This last batch of feed I bought tho seems to have alot of the residue or sandy like texture to it, and there is more in it than normal. When I ferment the seed, there is a lot of it in there and it’s like "mud". Does anyone else experience this? Is this because of seed that is crushed?

  14. @carlamahlberg1854 on August 15, 2025 at 5:16 pm

So do you mostly feed them out of the picnic table? My chickens always throw food on the ground. Also what type of sand are you using, I want to put sand in my run.

  15. @matttafakt on August 15, 2025 at 5:18 pm

Nice feed but a complete rip off at $100 per 50lb bag .. that’s around $4000 per ton LOL.. just buying organic feed at wholesale is too expensive at 1500 to 1700 per ton. So it’s good way to broke if you think you’re gonna sell organic eggs at more than $7 per dozen

  16. @jenesselayman9666 on August 15, 2025 at 5:19 pm

Just bought this for the first time from Azure Standard. My chickens love it! I was trying to slowly introduce it into their system by adding it to their old feed. They just scratch and move all the old away, and go straight for the new stuff!
    Thanks for the great review!

  17. @HomesteadHafsa on August 15, 2025 at 5:20 pm

Awesome review! It is amazing when they eat their feed like it’s a treat 😃

I’m trying to find information about the change in formula recently. The last bag we bought had the same label on the bag, but it basically just wheat Kernel in it, I filled a gallon jar and I could see maybe 4 kernels of corn and that’s it, just straw and wheat. What happened? My chickens can not live off of wheat alone.

  20. @imsooshook3871 on August 15, 2025 at 5:22 pm

Is this only sold in Washington State or cam it be mailed out of state?

  21. @explaincauseidontgetit3294 on August 15, 2025 at 5:23 pm

The company suggests fermenting their feed. Have you tried it fermented? I’ve bought it once before but didn’t know about their suggestion to ferment it. Going to try it this time!

  22. @xxviciousxx82 on August 15, 2025 at 5:25 pm

Legit the best feed! Makes my chickens lay super strong egg shells.

You can see these guys are deeply involved in the occult… light or dark both are satanic according to Anton LaVey… Choose Jesus while there’s still time.. the rapture will happen soon and things will be too chaotic for those not willing to accept Jesus right now

  25. @Truckerjoe88 on August 15, 2025 at 5:28 pm

Does your feed come with a much powder as ours?

  26. @carlamahlberg1854 on August 15, 2025 at 5:29 pm

Will they get all the vitamins they need? I worry they could become vitamin deficient. Yiu said you give grower, is that because it’s a mixed flock?

  27. @OJAV08 on August 15, 2025 at 5:30 pm

Hi! I have been using this brand to feed my chicks and I love it! Now that moved them to their grower feed I have noticed they don’t care for it. I am not sure if it is because I switched the food to a different container but even with the food that falls on the ground they don’t really care for it. Any tips?

  28. @Truckerjoe88 on August 15, 2025 at 5:36 pm

Since you have sand in your coops, do you just throw the feed on the ground?

  29. @johnotto4931 on August 15, 2025 at 5:39 pm

We bought this 3 shipments, first 2 were great, last on had large chunks of corn and smelled different
